Scams and fraud

I think I may have been scammed

I decided to sell some clothes on Vinted. A friend had recommended it
I spent ages doing descriptions and uploading photos and as soon as the first item went live, I had a message from Vinted that it had been sold.
I was then asked to press a link.
The link said "are you sure you want to leave Vinted"
Instead of following my instinct to stay on the site, I found myself giving bank details to someone who said they had paid for the garment
There was no confirm button so I hope I haven't actually parted with my card details or if I have they are not in a criminal's hands

Soon after I had 2 messages from Vinted saying 2 more items had sold and there was no request for card details, only posting instructions.
There is no obvious help on the site.
Should I panic and cancel my bank card?

Glad you got sorted out Grammaretto. It is too easy to be fooled by these scammers.

Relieved for you grammaretto.

Checking our credit card statement I saw an entry I didn’t recognise. An anxious hour followed while the provider had a look, put a temporary stop on my card and gave me some additional information to follow up. Yes, it was a purchase I’d forgotten about. Calling the provider back I also felt a very silly old woman. The supremely kind and patient staff reassured me they’d rather people called them than risked anything. Impressive service from them.

My credit card statement has given me a bit of a fright a couple of times, when I’ve bought something locally, but the payment goes to a different name at the opposite end of the Country. Luckily, I’ve had no real issues and followed the paper trail backwards.

A relief for you grammaretto.

Oh yes that strange entry on the statement.
I was most concerned earlier this year when someone had spent £200 at the co-op in a town I never shop in.

I rang the bank and to my relief and embarrassment, he said it was a cash machine and ofcourse it had been me whilst driving to a church concert on a Sunday I needed to pay in cash and I had stopped when I saw the machine.
Better safe than sorry.

Many bank apps now gave a function whereby its possible to freeze your card temporarily yourself which I've used and found very reassuring.
