I even began to fill in the application and was on the point of sending my bank details (you pay £3) when the penny dropped.
Many have reported this.
I am sure it's neither smeg nor lidl but I hope they can stop it.
I could do with a new kettle.

At least you realised before they had your bank details.

So many of these horrible scams around.

A similar thing happened to a friend last week. Her experience was a Marks and Spencer review. She was offered a reward for completing the review. The reward being a Marks and Spencer 'afternoon tea'.
My friend duly completed the form and filled in credit card details to pay for posting the tea.
Within minutes minutes her card supplier phoned to say she had been scammed. The card supplier cancelled the transaction and the credit card. A new credit card arrived very speedily.
We really need to be constantly getting on our guard.

Barely a day passes when I don’t get at least one of these. M&S, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, the AA, you name it. I always block and delete but still they come back.

There is a computerised Brother sewing machine scam doing the rounds at the moment.Pay just £3 and and your bank account has been emptied, if you fall for it.

This particular scam has popped up about ten times over the past few weeks on my PC. The prize was described as a 'letterbox' afternoon tea. The mind boggles.

The M&S one came by email.

How does making a payment allow your bank account to be emptied?

I would be very suspicious of any company offering me a high-value item free (why would they?) so assume there is some form of scam; but I can't see how a simple payment would give someone access to your funds.

You have to enter your card details to pay for the postage.
I assume that someone used their bank Debit card.
I also assume that if you used your Credit Card they will take more than just the postage costs, of course with a credit card you stand a good chance of getting your money back.
Not sure that the bank will refund any monies to you though.

I got the M&S Afternoon Tea email today. Straight to Spam folder, along with half a dozen others.

Is Smeg really a brand name? I thought it was an embarassing swear word from Red Dwarf. I would be as likely to buy a Smeg anything as I would be to buy the Japanese drink called Sweat!

Yes - Smeg is an upmarket Italian home appliance company, Aely
