Not actually a scam but pretty bad behaviour by the company running a local car park. My partner went to Boots to buy something I needed. As a morning person he tends to go shopping first thing and got to the shop just before it opened. It’s next to a Go Outdoors shop that actually own the car park ( we didn’t know that). The other day he got afine for £100. He’d been in the car park (outside Boots for 25 minutes). Turns out there are a few signs scattered around saying no parking between 8pm and 8 am. The one on the entrance to the car park is turned sideways and another one is obscured by trees. The writing about 8pm to 8am is so small you can hardly read it, especially if you’ve got driving glasses on and not reading glasses. Thankfully we went to Boots yesterday and they have managed to recind the fine. The assistant says she’s always having to do it for the staff at Boots. What infuriates me is that these companies deliberately try to catch people out because they know that they’ll pay the £60 immediately as a way of reducing the fine from 100.There is no barrier in the car park to prevent cars from driving in so, if you drive in, realise it’s before 8am and drive out I bet you still get fined. Is it any wonder that people don’t go shopping any more. We no longer drive into town these days because bus lanes seem to appear on a regular basis which incur fines.
