Job offer

I got this text today:
“ Hello, sorry to bother you! I am Anna from Jobsite. We would like to offer you an online remote job. You can earn £100-500 every day, working 60-90 minutes daily, and complete the work whenever and wherever (payment on the same day). However, please note: (you must be at least 25 years old). If you meet the requirements and want to know more information, please reply 'yes' or 'no'.”
Entertainingly, “Anna”, according to the country code of her phone number, is in the Philippines! This is not the first idiotic “job” offer I’ve had recently - and deleted and reported as junk/spam. One claimed to have “recognised” me on LinkedIn. Unlikely as I left LinkedIn when I retired. Anyone else getting them.

It's a scam.

I’ve had two similar on my mobile recently. The first one I deleted and blocked so they used a different number for the second which I again deleted and blocked.

I get cold calls from a robot offering me jobs. I just end the call and block the number.

Shelflife Tue 02-Sept-25 15:58:15

I haven't received that message but 4 of my friends have ! Most definitely a scam.

Vintagegirl Tue 02-Sept-25 16:08:24

how does the scam pan out? look for your bank details??

I think the "job" is that you have to falsely click on sites to enhance their algorithms or something to do with traffic to that site. In order to get paid you give your bank details ...

Hi, I'm living near Cardiff, can anyone recommend a good sofa company, I spent £3.000 on a new sofa 4 years ago, and it has to go, I'm having so much hip pain and leg pain, I only just realised its the sofa causing it, after sitting on a holiday sofa whilst away, my pain has 90% disappeared, I need to buy a good sofa, as I can't afford for it to be replaced again after 2 years.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I've had several of those too. Sorry, not interested. Straight in the bin.

Hi Sadie, I think you need to put your request on a different thread e.g. start a new discussion on Chat so it can be seen.

Unless people are interested in Job Offer(s) it won’t be read on here.

Yes, I’ve had Anna from Jobsite twice, coming from 2 different numbers - both codes were the Philippines! She had a rather attractive breathy and relaxed English accent. They must be recruiting more believable speakers?!

Saw similar quite some time ago. Scam.

SaxonGrace Sat 06-Sept-25 15:25:06

I have had this twice over the last month I just deleted them both

You should have checked the make of the one in the holiday home. (Hindsight’s a wonderful thing 🤣). As you didn’t, would you be able to contact the owner of the holiday home and ask them?
If not, but you took a photo of it, you could put it on here to see if any of us can identify it.

In order to “pay” you they will require your bank details.

cookiemonster66 Sat 06-Sept-25 17:21:50

I get a few of these per week

Alison333 Sat 06-Sept-25 19:18:01

I had a recorded female voice saying that the 'Indeed Human Resources' wanted to talk to me about a job! I ended the call.

Berd Sat 06-Sept-25 20:11:49

I’ve heard they sign you up for a ‘job’ for which you have to pay a fee. They then give you a bit of money to hook you in, telling you there’s lots more to come if you pay xyz & you’re expected to recruit others. It’s a kind of pyramid scheme, Eventually you find you’ve paid loads with no returns & no redress - everything just collapses. Sorry that’s a bit vague but it’s the gist. Cut calls & block!

FranP Sat 06-Sept-25 20:56:41

Get them all the time. I also get real recruitment agencies offering me inappropriate opportunities because they are too lazy to make proper matches. I AM on Linked in - it clearly says RETIRED but they keep coming.

25Avalon Sat 06-Sept-25 21:39:18

Just had a text come in saying “hello” so I looked it up on who rang me on this number. Seems it’s a scam connecting to job offers. I replied goodbye”goodbye” and deleted.

Just because you are listed as retired on Linked in does nto prevent you receiving genuine job offers. About 2 years ago I was headhunted by a US academic I had worked with years before to work on an AI project. Linked in was how he contaced me. Its a genuine remote job based at a US uni. However I did recognise the person as soon as we had a zoom chat. I did work in the USA so I still have my US based account for my salary.

grandMattie Sun 07-Sept-25 05:41:42

I’ve had any number of those. Being well retired and not looking for a job…. A big scam. Delete, block and/or report.

i am getting text messages from "universal credit" telling me to fill in my winter payment form, i would love to but as i am only 62 and live in scotland we do not get the winter payment unless we are of pensioner age, i did get the warm home payment until a couple of years ago (£140) and then it was stopped in scotland. i have to wait until i am 68 when i become a pensioner, probably by then they will have increased the pension age again.

I also have received these jobs offers lately / just blocked & deleted . I only retired in March after 51 years with the NHS !😂
