Sky TV Possible Fraud

I was sent an email from Sky yesterday, not unusual, they frequently mention films I should watch.

Yesterday they were telling me Disney + had been added to my TV and almost £6 a month would be deducted. I am 82 and not 8. I checked, no money deducted.

I tried to get in touch with a human on Sky. No joy. Eventually I was given an engineer's number to discover they wanted my bank details to deduct £1 and would deduct £35 monthly within 3 days, I wasn't paying 10p for something which wasn't my fault. I went to Complaints and that was permanently engaged so I have up.

Later I tried to cancel Sky but that is another story.

I was in touch
today with a GN friend and she said it may be a scam and to warn others on GN. At least my savings are intact!

We had an email to say Disney + was going to be added without increasing our subscription. We haven’t done anything about activating it yet as we aren’t particularly interested but thanks for the warning. We will take care.

My understanding is that Disney+ Standard with Ads is now included for new and existing Sky Ultimate TV and all Sky Q customers but not Sky+ if anyone still has that … which would surprise me as it is no longer supported with software updates and hasn’t been for almost two years.

This was what Sky did when they integrated Netflix some years ago. Customers had to upgrade to a SkyQ box.

Are you sure you are not misunderstanding the communication which has been sent to you? Is it from Sky? What’s the email address it has come from?

Disney+ is not a children’s Chanel.
I have it mainly for the National Geographic part of it.

Phishing scams are always doing the rounds and one currently refers to Sky Disney channel .

If you have an existing account with Sky they can take money from your bank as they already have your data for the monthly payments.

To assume you want an extra channel and charge you for it is a step too far especially when Customer Advisors on a telephone line are practically extinct.

Sky Q customers will have Disney + and 2 other streaming channels added to their subscription as a sweetener for this year's price hikes. Disney + is not a children's channel. I was informed of this when I received the email about the price rise earlier in the year which all customers receive.

I've looked back to their original email and it says Disney+ is worth 6 pounds a month, not that it will cost me 6 pounds per month.

Ferry23 is correct.

I have Disney+ and it does have stuff like Frozen and Toy Story on it but it also has adult films like Avatar, Titanic and Watching You which is cert 18.

They have a large selection of films for all ages including 80+.
