I received an email saying a direct debit of £449.99 had been set up for a didsbury dental practice, based in Manchester. I live in London. I had not arranged any such direct debit and immediately informed my bank,; not Santander. I had an account around 30 years ago, not now used. I will phone Santander as a precaution to close it.
But be aware. I hate these people.

In the above post you said that you will phone them.
That was posted today.
Now you say you have phoned them.

To close a Santander account you have to go into a branch with proof of identity.

Inform both your bank and Santander asap and the dental practice in Didsbury - if it exists - can whistle for it's money.

I’m confused, why inform your bank which isn’t Santander about a DD set up for Santander? Surely Santander is your first port to call.
