Last night at 10pm - ‘Richard’ rang my landline to say he was from The Postcode Lottery and my postcode had been chosen to get a free month’s entries, if I agreed to sign up there and then. A new scam!

i think it's safer and easier to let all unknown numbers go to voicemail, then if you are listening, you can pick it up if you want to. otherwise block.

I agree - phone was handy and I just snatched it up without thinking. DD1 and family are away, so at that time of night it caught me unaware as I thought it might be a problem.

I just opened this and the Ad on the top asks if I have been scammed !!!!!!
From something called Funds Recovery.
Suspicious, moi, very and a bit of a coincidence too.

I just tell them I am very interested and could they please wait while I use the bathroom... Then I just leave the phone by the TV.

There doesn't seem to be much we can do to stop these scam artists but at least wasting their time might save someone else from dealing with it.

I've just had a horrible one here in France. An email from the Gendarmerie Nationale accusing me of accessing pornography and indecent images over the Internet. Not sure what they hope to gain from it. A French friend looked it up on the Internet for me and its doing the rounds here. Very unpleasant to receive.
