I don't know what these are either, but we love them. Husband talks to them... "Morning, you are gorgeous!"

Grannyknot - you beauty is a Campanula, not sure which one and I have put my books away.

Campanula Medium, aka Canterbury bells. I love them. They only last for a couple of years.

Sweet rocket seeds everywhere in my garden so I use it as natural support for the delphiniums and if it gets a bit too full of itself I cut the flower heads off leaving the stems until they die back. The building in the background behind the obelisk is the one we're going to convert into a granny annexe.

To the right of the variegated cornus in the photo I have whole swathes of white sweet rocket. I should take a picture of that before it goes over.

The granny annexe is going to be lovely! What a pretty view it will have. I always think that the view you have is far more important than the house that you live in.

So are you clouding over now too? You live not all that far from me, I think.

We're near Ely so not far from you. It's still sunny here but not for long I fear. I agree about views. The photographs show the view DD will have from her kitchen window when she moves into our bungalow. I'll have to take a pic from the other end to show what will be our view.

I'd much rather live in a small house in a large garden than the other way round so being in an annexe won't bother me.....less housework so more time for the garden.

That's a coincidence. I'm not far from Cambridge. I used to have a large garden, but now have a tiny one. Very frustrating.

We had to move fast, for work, lost a house and this one (smallish with big garden) and another one were the only ones in the area in our price range. The other one was a large beamed farmhouse - magical. Big garden, quiet road, gorgeous pond and summerhouse.

But the runway at Mildenhall was at the end of the garden. We were so lucky, we would never have noticed if there hadn't been a gap in the HUGE hedge and I peered through it and asked DBH what it could be! The estate agent didn't look all that pleased!

I only have a yard, but it's a real suntrap as you can see from the 3rd pic, or rather you can't see very well as the sun is so bright!

Yes, it's harder to take photos in the sun. Your yard looks bright and sunny and colourful.

Lona Very pretty, very sunny. Perfect.

It looks drab all winter, and then almost overnight in early May when the Wisteria blooms, it suddenly looks ok.
That's the magic of gardens.

Aha, you know more than you think! Campanula are Canterbury Bells.

Silly me, campanology and bells of course doh ! should have made the connection. Pleased with myself now as I wouldn't call myself a gardener

View from my patio at 7 this morning. What a lovely day.

It was, we spent it looking round Pakenham open gardens, a fabulous day to be looking at lovely gardens - and yours doesn't look bad either! And I didn't even have to pay to get in.

£5 each!!! I was amazed, the last time I went round it was £2.50 a few years ago.

You all put me to shame. When we moved here we had looked for a house with a small garden. We then had it 2 patios laid so have few flower beds, which is lucky as I'm not a gardener.

There are however some bits of the garden which, despite my best efforts, manage to do well. So here are my
