Robins nesting on our patio

Great excitement as I realised this weekend that the pair of robins that have been hanging around for most of the previous week, have taken up residence in the nesting box in a corner on our patio.

So ... I'm feeding them on their favourites, and put out some soft, organic wool in earth colours grin for their nest and they gracefully accepted the gift!

We're not going anywhere near the nest, too worried that it will put them off, and I'm trying not to worry about the weeks ahead and the local cat population.

Robins have the sweetest song.

Update on my robins smile - they're busy out there right now and I can sit in a very comfortable spot on my sofa and watch them through the glass patio doors.

They disappeared for a few days earlier this week when we had very high winds, and I feared that they may not be back, but they have reappeared.

They're scoffing the mealworms, ignoring the suet and seed block.

And (because all the websites say they like it for their nests) I've just put out cuttings of my grey hair for them grin - told the hairdresser to give me a few nice long pieces when I went for a haircut today. (Well I had to explain with sign language, she's Korean. I'm still not sure she understood completely what I needed it for!)

How exciting Grannyknot we have had a pair in our garden for the last week or so not sure where they are nesting but it can't be far away as they have been in and out a lot. We were wondering how long they are together before they lay eggs does anyone know?

I hope yours continue to nest in your patio till the eggs are laid and you keep us up to date.
