Actually the primary function of your uterus is as an organ in which to safely gestate an infant. The fact that shedding its redundant lining each month causes you misery is just unfortunate, but does not downgrade its intended purpose.

I wonder if scientists are looking to create 'sperm' from two females to enable two women to have their own children...... nah thought not, and the men's rights activists won't be criticising them for their bias.

I think you need more understanding about how it works financially where it is well safeguarded

I think once money is involved it's pretty impossible to safeguard.

You cant compare children to giving blood.
I would be very very concerned if there were a financial incentive to that as well though.

The answer to some humans taking advantage of other humans should not be something that is taken out on those human beings who want to give/receive help to/from each other

I've seen total strangers line up to be tested for donation

There is an inequality fundamental to paid surrogacy for example. But am guessing that inequality and misery doesnt count.

Can't have babies? Tough doo doo, you would have made a wonderful mum but its too unethical to use a surrogate, even though some would want to help you..

The thing is lots of people do see ethical issues with surrogacy, it's why some European countries ban it, it's why there have been some horrendous exploitation of the most vulnerable wonen, that's without going into the issues that face those whose child has a disability. So I think its society's business really.

I don't suppose this research will be applicable to humans in the near future, but theoretically why not?
If a child is loved and wanted and science can help people to have a child I can see no harm in it.

True, but look at huge numbers of those who can afford it and want it cosmetic surgery when (except for medical reasons) people starve etc etc...

Mixed feelings, not against it in theory, but feel uneasy. Think its something to do with still living in a male dominated world and power stuff.

It's part of the ethical issues of surrogacy I think, the language around the issue.

Obviously they could do this for same sex female couples too, although women can already use their eggs in thor partners uterus which is how my friends had children, with help from a donor
