Hoopoe in a Norfolk garden - did anyone else see?

I’d be thrilled to see one in my garden. How exciting.

I used to see them in Southern Italy, notably down in the Cilento.

I've never seen one here but did have an amazing sighting of one in France, digging in a field for ages.

Beautiful bird! I’ll bet that had the twitchers leaping for their cameras!

We see them occasionally here in rural France, beautiful birds.

Used to see one very occasionally when we lived in Cyprus, but that was over 50 years ago now!

We do get woodpeckers on the lawn but I would love to see a hoopoe.

Just in case anyone spots an unusual bird on their lawn:

We saw them when we lived in SW Françe all the time, so exotic looking, unusual to see one here.

They’re welcome to eat the leatherjackets in my lawn! I’ve seen a hoopoe in Eygpt. I believe they’re considered unclean there because they rootle for insects in piles of dung.

My daughter had a pair in her garden in Shropshire/Cheshire about 4 years ago.
