Lovely thread. So many moments. GN has helped me to feel a lot less lonely over the last 9 months and given lots of laughs. The best one has to be though, the thread started by Jingle on whether or not to give her daughter a pelvic floor strengthening device for Christmas and if so, whether it should be gift wrapped and given along with the rest of the pressies with the family gathered round the tree. Had me giggling helplessly for quite a while. Can I find it to post a link? Nah! Cari darling, help! Where is it?

I love gransnet. It cheers me up, entertains me, needles me sometimes, and stops me from ever being bored. What I've really enjoyed has been getting to know all the different characters who contribute so freely - whatever the topic, and how their personalities shine through. What (who?) I love most of all though, is Jingl! She is brilliant - I think she's actually on the payroll! I love her sense if irreverent humour, her sharp wit and her willingness to say the brave thing. Long may she continue (and if she is on the staff, give her a raise!).

I very nearly missed that hallowe'en party.

Just went to change my name to a ghost-y one. Did the usual, and then couldn't get back in again! And what's more, Geraldine was in a meeting! Somewhere else, would you believe!

I agree with lots of others I've found the site enthralling at times and so so funny at others.. can't really pick out one event... its just so nice when people respond to what is sometimes a big worry and to have your fears allayed is just great..

My highlight was the first time I posted (as I had never joined any of these chat sites before) and someone replied to my post - knowing that someone was actually interested in what I was saying!! I dont feel so "odd" now I know that there are actually other like-minded and like-aged people out there who think the same as me. Thank you Gransnet.

imjingl keep posting, can't have enough of a good thing. Every time I think of a most memorable moment, I think to myself, hey, there are far too many to recollect. For almost a year, I've had the best ever fun. Far better for the health than booze, weed and wicked, wayward sex...

I found GN through an article in The Lady and have really enjoyed it. I'm not one to post my personal details or family troubles on a social web site and am really only interested in serious threads on social or political matters. I am trying to be honest here! It sounds heavy but it is not like that I read the posts on underwear and sex and enjoy it all. GN is a window on how things really are in the UK.
There was not a particular moment for me or at least I have forgotten it.
My favourite is the thread about books. Living in Germany, I have to order books on-line and miss browsing round bookshops.I had to change my user name because of Google but I hope the Gnetters know who I am.

Gransnet is just the best site for grandparents. Love the comments, the recipes, the tips - and I have had 4 free books plus an art set as prizes. You really can win! I have recommended it to all my granny friends.

So many happy memories reading this thread! Even though I may go days without posting, I log on to Gransnet several times each day to catch up with everyone's thoughts and news.The parties have been memorable and the carol singing was brilliant!

I joined GN on the first day, but the significant date for me was 30th May 2011. That was the first day of glass's weight loss thread and it's not an exaggeration to say it changed my life. 47 more weigh-ins and lots of support later and I've lost weight, become much more fit and joined a range of activities that the previously very fat me would have hidden away from.

Congratulations Gransnet on your first birthday ... my favourite moment had to be when I first found Gransnet and thought 'how fab'!

grannya it was the strangest thing to put a voice to the names, I felt very emotional.

My favourite moment was listening to other Gransnetters chatting to people at GNHQ just before we began singing the Christmas carol; suddenly my 'virtual' world collided with my 'real' one and in that moment I knew that Gransnet had become a very precious community to which I felt, and still feel, privileged to belong.
