Happy first birthday to Gransnet. Thank you for a year of entertainment and friendship

Finding out that my friend, Sheila - who introduced me to Gransnet, had won one of your competitions. It meant she got to spend a weekend in London and I will never forget when she knocked on my door early one morning and was able to walk to work with me. We talked and breakfasted on the way- a great way to start the day. Without Gransnet, the competition and Sheila's luck that would never have been possible!

The day us Granddads got our own shed, all to ourselves, except of course for a stream of Grandmas, bearing cakes etc. I still want to know who locked me in there for the winter ?

I have not been feeling like posting much on here the last week or so as it has been a bit of a sad time in our house.
My favourite moment would have to be all the lovely words of comfort I have had over the last few days, it has helped me so much. They are a great bunch of folks on here and I think that is what makes Gransnet first and foremost. So I raise a to everyone on here and also to the Gransnet team

Hello Annika. It's been a really sad time for you, and I can't even begin to think about how you (and the rest of your family) are feeling just now. As whenim64 said earlier, keep having a wee look at the chats we're having - we'll all be here for you when you're ready.

My favourite Gransnet moment was finding out about it in the first place. A friend mentioned she'd won something from Gransnet and I'd never heard of it. I quickly looked it up, and joined. I've just been a gran since January so I love having a group of grans to discuss things with.

Annika, So much sadness for you. In the long run, your happy memories will take over and your friend will always be with you in the grandchildren you share. Meanwhile, we are here to share your sorrow and support you whenever you need us. ((((hugs))))

Actually, one of the funniest moments for me was when Charlotte, one afternoon and quite out of the blue, started posting a whole lot of random threads to get her Oldie Borum Forum going.

We all went into a 'get orf our website' spin, and you could imagine poor Josie frantically phoning Charlotte along the lines of, "what the flip do you think you're doing?! We haven't softened 'em up prepared them yet!

It was quite funny.

Last year I was directed to Gransnet when first hit by sadness of ‘denied access’ to my grandson. I’ve had lots of support and sympathy on this issue.But so much more – fun,tips,information,wisdom, controversy.and a host of wonderful new friends.
I log in every day.Enjoyed the carol singing,book reviews,cookery ideas,memories.etc.etc.

But the most wonderful bonus is that I’m joining jeni on her cruise in September.Is this a Gransnet first?
It’s my first cruise.Wow! I am so excited about it –keep pinching myself to confirm that it’s true.Yes it is - not just a virtual cruise- we are all booked up on the QE for 12 days in Sept. .I’m getting my posh frocks ready and researching the amazing places we will be visiting.
