I know Bags is after a crescent moon for the Quiet corner/nite, nite thingy!

Which would be good smile

But what about the Union flag ...for Queen's Jubilee ... Olympics...-Para-Olympics??? I know some GNetters are not going to follow these events, buts lots of us will be!! [pride] emoticion

Then I think we ought to have a 'wooden spoon' emoticion ...I think some of us would get a lot od use out of this one!! grin

What does anyone else think??

Jacey Mon 21-May-12 17:07:29

Let's go for several!! We will not get confused ...we're GNetters!! grin

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 16:37:49

Well, perhaps Josie needs to make things even clearer so that we know exactly what we're voting for (i.e. one emoticon or two, or several! grin)

Jacey Mon 21-May-12 16:18:08

Yes ...but my quote came later grin

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 16:13:55

Have you read Josie's first post, Jacey - paragraph 1?

"...we'd only be able to commit to one for a six month period." etc.

Jacey Mon 21-May-12 16:01:12

Anagram why can't we hve both?? confused

Josie said," It's definitely not a space issue! If everyone is happy to see more emoticons at the bottom, and doesn't think it's confusing etc, there's no problem for us." smile

I NEVER do things by halves!smile
If you aim for the stars you might hit the moon!

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 15:03:56

jeni, we can't have both! Be told! wink

Ditto re Union Flag (and before Thursday if you can so I can wave it as the Torch goes past!) smile

jeni Mon 21-May-12 13:59:51

Jacey Mon 21-May-12 13:48:40

JosieGransnet

A crescent moon would be lovely.

Sorry, I wasn't being very clear was I?!

The six month idea was just to give everyone an idea of what we could manage, emoticon-wise, and we thought one emoticon in this six month slot (Feb-Aug) would be OK to force ask Tech nicely for.

They won't only be on loan for that period! (unless everyone decided they would like an eg. Olympic emoticon, that would only be relevant for a limited time)

Hope that is a bit clearer...

Anagram Mon 21-May-12 12:11:08

Can I ask why it would only be for a six month period, Josie? Are they on loan? confused

JosieGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 21-May-12 12:06:03

Hello all,

We said a while ago, in response to calls for a snowflake emoticon, that we had a limited amount of Tech resources we could assign to the creation of emoticons, and so we'd only be able to commit to one for a six month period. This is until August - so do have a think/vote about what everyone would like and we can pass on any requests to Tech.

It's definitely not a space issue! If everyone is happy to see more emoticons at the bottom, and doesn't think it's confusing etc, there's no problem for us.

We'll obviously do our best to make sure that we get as many tech requests done as we can! Hope that answers some questions.

(

I suppose this would do at a pinch?

Bags Sun 20-May-12 19:15:15

I knew someone (probably you, absent) would comment on that grin! I did think of just putting hoi polloi with no English article, but it 'sounded' wrong in my head, so I suppose the my answer to your question is yes. Like it or lump it. smile

absentgrana Sun 20-May-12 19:12:17

So Bags has the- hoi polloi become acceptable too? Just asking… smile

Bags Sun 20-May-12 19:10:52

grin

jeni Sun 20-May-12 18:51:06

H,ph! I'm going to go and sulk! (what are these young things coming to, with their loose use of language? Mutter! Mutter!)

Jacey Sun 20-May-12 18:08:00

How true Bags! wink

Bags Sun 20-May-12 17:38:29

Oh, I agree grin. I only said it was 'acceptable' for use by the hoi polloi wink. After all, it's what people say, right or wrong. It will become right through ignorant usage like many another incorrect thing in our language.

jeni Sun 20-May-12 17:29:00

Hmph! It's NOT CORRECT I repeat very loudlyITS NOT RIGHT!

Bags Sun 20-May-12 17:12:36

I'm never argumentative, as you all know wink, so this is just for mischief. According to this site, it's perfectly acceptable for common or garden non-sailors to call the union flag the union jack.

What a relief!

Bags Sun 20-May-12 16:52:07

Not that I want a biscuit, of course. Just sayin'.

Bags Sun 20-May-12 16:51:25

It looks like a jammie dodger.
