They don't automatically delete if one of us reports petallus but it does draw attention to the problem so that GN can keep an eye on things. I have only reported something once and GN explained their decision not to delete. I was happy with their reasoning.

Surprised you didn't know that, petallus. Hq have said it often enough.

It is of interest to me to discover that posts are not deleted unless they are first reported by one of us.

jo8 I think that you are skating on very thin ice and may well follow the same route as Frank and Gerry sooner rather than later.

I think it would be better if one person alone at HQ was responsible for the decision.

But it's not my site. Thank God.

Hi jingle.

We delete posts that break our forum guidelines, when they have been reported to us. Of course it depends on the context of the post, and it is a judgement call at the end of the day.

It's not really based on the number of reports, but we do rely on people reporting to alert us of a post we should look at, as we don't pre-moderate postings.

<checks the time> <goes off to make that much needed coffee> brew thlgrin

how HQ decide whether to delete a particular post or not.

Do they actually read the preceding part of the thread and use their judgement, or is it based upon the number of reports they receive, or upon the wording of said reports, or is it, as suggested by one member of HQ, simply a matter of keeping the site tidy (! grin)?

I have no particular thread in mind - been wondering for some time.

Would add that whatever the method used, it has become just a bit wishy washy - in recent weeks. hmm
