I know the "come back Jingle" thread meandered on and some people became quite agitated, but can someone please explain why the thread has now been deleted? I have read worse on other threads and despite the note "message from GNHQ" I am unable to see any explanation.
Some of us are not on site every 10 minutes and to come back and find something has gone without rhyme or reason is confusing!! confused

Agree , 110 per cent !!

glassortwo Sun 20-Oct-13 21:44:59

I wasnt on Gn this afternoon so I was amazed that it had been deleted what happened.

merlotgran Sun 20-Oct-13 21:48:37

The thread was beginning to fade away and then one or two people posted (nothing confrontational) and GNHQ felt that as it was going round in circles they'd delete it. hmm

I'm not going to give an opinion or they'll delete this one as being a thread about a thread.

Ana Sun 20-Oct-13 21:51:12

It seems that if a thread succeeds in making GNHQ's collective heads spin (and has of course received a certain number of complaints), its deletion is a matter of form these days....hmm

gracesmum Sun 20-Oct-13 21:56:59

I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to archive a thread so that those who may have missed out could at least read it. Clearlly this would not apply to deletions for reasons of racism or obscenity

annodomini Sun 20-Oct-13 22:00:55

I hadn't noticed that it had gone. hmm

Yes Gracesmum. On the professional forum I belong to, threads are occasionally locked, but not deleted, if things are getting overheated.
That way, other forum users get to know what's acceptable and what's not.

Anne58 Sun 20-Oct-13 22:11:16

That seems like a good idea jane

Galen Sun 20-Oct-13 22:12:53

I blame GCHQ as well as GNHQ and too much wine[and cupcakegrin

POGS Sun 20-Oct-13 22:14:47

Nothing happened. Nobody got overheated. Nobody said a word wrong.
No members individual posts was deleted
.
The thread was deleted at 20.18. 'We're going to be deleting this thread shortly. Getting a bit dizzy watching it spin in circles'

I made my thoughts known at the time that there are far worse threads that don't get deleted.

I repeat what I have said before. If a thread is deleted without proper explanation from GNHQ then members will ask what happened, make up reasons and it will serve no purpose.

Who said OWN GOAL sad

Lona Sun 20-Oct-13 22:19:36

I've suggested in the past that threads are frozen rather than deleted, then everyone could see the problem, but nothing happened.

Lona Sun 20-Oct-13 22:50:03

"What larks!"

merlotgran Sun 20-Oct-13 22:53:55

You didn't miss anything, gracesmum. The thread was heading for the exit but was shot down when it had a change of heart and came back for a little lap of honour.

gracesmum Sun 20-Oct-13 23:01:37

And as usual - I missed it sad

bluebell Sun 20-Oct-13 23:04:50

GM - believe me you missed absolutely nothing!

Ana Sun 20-Oct-13 23:09:09

Do you keep an eagle eye on absolutely every thread on this site, Bluebell? Just in case...? hmm

Aka Sun 20-Oct-13 23:13:12

There was nothing much after you apologised 'for mixing up my grans and my granny's' Grace everything of value had been said before.

Faye Sun 20-Oct-13 23:15:18

It hasn't gone, I still have it up on my iPad on another window. grin

Aka Sun 20-Oct-13 23:22:47

Isn't it copyright?

gracesmum Sun 20-Oct-13 23:32:27

Faye - is it permitted to ask "Why"????

absent Sun 20-Oct-13 23:38:10

Nothing we say on here is our copyright and Gransnet has the right to use and publish it. That's why I very rarely supply a recipe for anything as I would be cutting my own professional throat.
