I can't open the 'active' page. Can get to the forums, obviously but I have the active page pinned to start on my phone and it won't open sad

Me too. Have just learnt to work around it , as I have the photo issue.

Bumping this thread to let GNHQ know that I'm still having the same problem with posting!

GigiGransnet (GNHQ) Sat 06-Sept-14 14:45:27

Hi Galen

I was told that had been fixed as it was to do with the file size. If you are still finding it impossible let me know and we will revisit it!
x

Galen Sat 06-Sept-14 12:52:52

Can you fix the unable to upload photos one while you're at it please?

durhamjen Sat 06-Sept-14 12:25:01

Same problem still happening with me, Gigi.
I do not understand why we are being asked if we want to save or open a message we are sending. You should only be asked that if you are downloading anything.
Hope you get it fixed before my grandson comes. He'll open anything just to get rid of the box at the bottom of the screen.
Not that he ever goes on Gransnet, of course.

Ana Sat 06-Sept-14 11:52:18

Thank you Gigi! smile

Hi Ana

There may have been a new tech release on some section of the site that day, but if so this still shouldn't have happened. I will forward the screen shots and comments to tech and see what they say.

And I am here all day so rest assured you won't be abandoned to these pernicious glitch-gremlins smile I will do what I can x

Still having the same problem as Shysal.

If it's some sort of mismatch, as you say Nelliemoser, why did it suddenly happen on 4th September? Did GN change its system on that very day? Gigi?

Brendawymms Sat 06-Sept-14 09:54:54

Gransnet pages loading at differing speeds today. Some load double quick and the next one may take nearly a minute.

Nelliemoser Sat 06-Sept-14 09:24:15

I have not had any problems either on my laptop or this tablet which is android using Google chrome for GN.

My laptop has windows 8 64 bit and I use Firefox.

It sounds as if the problem is some sort of mismatch between an individuals browser and what systems GN are using as we don't all have this problem.

shysal Sat 06-Sept-14 08:44:37

Going to try a screen shot and will email it to GN. If we select 'cancel' then go 'back' the post will appear. Preview not possible.

shysal Sat 06-Sept-14 08:37:42

I am still having the posting problem. I will repeat that it is the same box that appears when I want to view an email attachment, asking 'open, save or cancel?'

GigiGransnet (GNHQ) Sat 06-Sept-14 08:34:51

Good morning everyone
I've just read through the thread and it's still not clear whether it's a browser or a GN issue.

So, please do report any problems today. Hopefully the very persistent Julie resolved some of the issues last night but if there are still problems posting do let us know & I will use the emergency 'Bat-Tech' phone & summon the experts.

I feel reluctant to change a browser with which I was completely satisfied, just because Gransnet has b***ered something up! angry

ninathenana Fri 05-Sept-14 23:15:50

Testing, testing 123 smile

Ana Fri 05-Sept-14 23:15:42

Yes - that's why I think the problem's at their end, not ours.

Brain's hurting now - good night!

I don't think the Tomcat is on our computers. It is a server thingy, which will be on the biiiiig computer which holds the Gransnet files.

Elegran Fri 05-Sept-14 23:05:04

Sending you a screenshot, Julie Gransnet

Night night!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 23:03:51

But you could still try it. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 23:01:57

Oh yes. confused

Ana Fri 05-Sept-14 22:59:46

But I thought Elegran had Firefox...confused

durhamjen Fri 05-Sept-14 22:59:18

Apache tomcat is something to do with Java, but as Java hasn't been updated this month, it cannot be on my computer. The only programme that has been updated is AVG. However, the problem only happened today on my computer.
Sometimes updates say they are going to put Chrome on it, but I try to say no because it always causes problems. I do not have chrome on it so it cannot be that.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 05-Sept-14 22:58:36

Yes. There is Firefox. smile

(I have not got shares)

Elegran Fri 05-Sept-14 22:58:15

OK, Ana, yesterday, but the different window has persisted into today. I can reach pages today though.
