Are we or are we not allowed to post on what we want as long as we stay within the guidelines? Or, now that the election is over, should we stop using the politics board? I'm very confused. Do the guidelines say anything about political discussion spoiling GN? Please advise

I never swear.
Actually, I did once say bloody hell to Ana, but only because she agreed with me.

No it's not a hyperlink. It's the title of the forum a thread is on...confused

That's why I suggested red - the blue is hard enough to make out at the best of times!

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 20:02:33

What we could do with is an emoticon for "I've got my fingers in my ears".

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 20:00:29

(for want of a better word)

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 20:00:17

Oh, of course, it's a hyperlink, it is already blue. Quite right too wink

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 20:00:05

Oh! Discuss anything. On any thread. Threads wander. Always have, always will. If you don't like it, just talk over the poster you consider is being "wayward"! hmm

loopylou Thu 14-May-15 19:58:44

Good idea Ana and preferably 'members only' !

Elegran I agree, it's the thinly veiled insults and anyone being described as ^silly little girls^ and pathetic when someone has the temerity to disagree that is depressingly boring.

AshTree Thu 14-May-15 19:58:31

Red, Ana? Not blue? gringringrin

merlotgran Thu 14-May-15 19:57:58

Nooooo, Ana. Leave it BLUE grin

Ana Thu 14-May-15 19:54:40

I think the word 'politics' as a thread heading should be in red so that those who want to can avoid them. The print is so tiny that no one really reads what forum a thread's on until they've brought it up.

Elegran Thu 14-May-15 19:54:37

Well, we must keep the "free speech" going - so I for one reserve the right to say that someone is sucking sour grapes if that is what I genuinely think. In general I prefer to keep out of political argy-bargy heart-felt discussions though. I have no wish to influence anyone else's opinions, or to suffer having my own opinions rubbished and assaulted with a view to changing trhem.

loopylou Thu 14-May-15 19:52:01

Oops! Response from POGS was Sunday 10 May 10:22:03

loopylou Thu 14-May-15 19:50:40

jingl I can't find original post on ^I might vote Tory but that doesn't make me a bad person* thread (possibly deleted?) but POGS* response was:

*Granny Twice
Far North
Durham Jen

You may find it amusing to tell other posters who do not conform to agreeing with you to F--K O-F as Granny Twice has told them too but do you really think that adds to your debate/argument.*

Tegan Thu 14-May-15 19:48:05

So, is that a yes to being able to discuss politics as long as it's in the correct part of the forum? And that, when we do we won't be accused of whingeing or sour grapes and that we can natter amongst ourselves and not be accused of boring everyone.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 19:44:33

closely. not slosely.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 19:44:16

I agree with that. Since I've been reading politics threads on GN, I've been listening more slosely to the Today Programme. Well, trying desperately to stay awake. hmm

NotTooOld Thu 14-May-15 19:39:41

I was always told that one should never discuss politics, religion or money but of course I disagree! Let's keep GN as vibrant and interesting as we can by discussing all sorts of things. Grans like us need to be as widely read as possible and that means reading stuff we don't necessarily agree with but that makes us think. However, I do agree that politics is best left under the politics heading as obviously not everyone wants to read it. Keep on being controversial, grans!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-May-15 19:33:28

whisper.... which thread was the f--- o-- on?
