I realised yesterday, that Gransnet are getting new members, at the very rough figure of 150 per month. Through the Bookclub and Competitions topics.

I presume that once people register, not that many deregister.

Hardly any of those join the talking part of the site, but I guess that that doesnt matter.

I wonder how many 'new joiners' leave after reading a few of the current threads? hmm

Yes please Cari! But not the mini ones, the full size one please, with almonds on it.

All we will say is that we have a lot more than 150 new joiners a month. A LOT more.

<changes subject> mini magnum anyone???

Plus the drinking time as a nice glass of wine would go very well with baked goodies. Then, if properly done, more hours pass whilst comatose.

I think I'm losing the will to live...........

One thing I do notice, is that lots of newbies are baffled by the acronyms. I presume you have found them by now?

Galen Sat 04-Jul-15 14:19:12

Jingle , don't forget the eating that's consequential to the baking! That takes serious time as well.

soontobe Sat 04-Jul-15 14:18:09

Yeah!
Welcome, as I dont think I have said welcome to you before smile

Can I ask what you think of the site? If I dare ask? grin

I'm a newbie to gransnet-joined last month. Must join the Bookclub

soontobe Sat 04-Jul-15 14:08:24

I wouldnt mind knowing how many competition and bookclub people remain as lurkers. And possible clickers I guess.
I dont expect gransnet to reply to that by the way!

I react spontaneously too. But some others are doing it differently. Playing the poster and not the ball, or whatever it is called, is one way.
We all do what we want though.

Elegran Sat 04-Jul-15 13:54:25

"how certain posters operate" sounds a bit like a deliberate policy of manipulation. I can't answer for anyone else, but I tend to react spontaneously to posts.

Elegran Sat 04-Jul-15 13:52:15

There are websites which list the most effective ways to get your ad clicked on (to get potential customers) , and others where you can sign up your site to have ads on it from firms who will pay you per click. You have to have a popular site with a lot of ads from these organisations to make much money, but there must be money in it or they wouldnot exist.

Who supplies the information for click-bait?

soontobe Sat 04-Jul-15 13:40:55

I am a bit annoyed with myself that it has taken so long to work some things out.

soontobe Sat 04-Jul-15 13:39:49

I can even anticipate some of it.

soontobe Sat 04-Jul-15 13:38:22

I am getting to know how certain posters operate. It is an eyeopener.

soontobe Sat 04-Jul-15 13:37:26

It isnt the first time I have been asked about my spare time, by yourself as well I think, so now people know.

Anya Sat 04-Jul-15 13:02:41

Thanks for sharing S2B

I have had several children. None here permanently now.
Like others, I dont seem to sleep as much as I used to.
Those two things combined have freed up time.
I dont have many hobbies, but do volunteer as I have mentioned.
I used to think that my husband may be a workaholic, but now realise that he just loves his job. He is effectively working for two people. Suits me.
So that leaves more than enough time for me to consider God, gransnet and business!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 04-Jul-15 11:43:39

Baking passes the time quite nicely.

soontobe Sat 04-Jul-15 11:35:27

It only took me half an hour.
I get interested in how businesses run. And learn things about businesses along the way.
We are in business, and I suspect that my kids will run a business in the future.

Elegran Sat 04-Jul-15 11:33:35

I assume that you have a lot of spare time, then, STB
