Huge egos at GNHQ

Why do they think our posts on here are so all-important to us that they have to contact us before deleting one, to give us a chance to "withdraw the post" of our own volition. confused It's a website. On the Internet. It's not holy.

And while I'm on the subject, I'm 73 FGS! I do not appreciate young whippersnappers, even if they do call themselves 'GNHQ' talking down to me as if I am a naughty schoolgirl. hmm

Babysitting has been on mine [thread about the lady whose parents or parents in law, I forget which, lost her eldest child in the woods when playing hide and seek]. I am on a PC.
Now I have GBBO, Meteor Shower and Favourite Polish

thatbags Thu 13-Aug-15 16:04:09

PS Babysitting isn't on either of those Discussions of the Day lists on my iPad either. Definitely lost, me.

thatbags Thu 13-Aug-15 16:02:43

Not on my iPad, ana. Neither on the home page nor in the box to the right on the Active page. What has Babysitting got to do with huge egos at HQ? You lost me there grin

Lona Thu 13-Aug-15 15:45:17

I can't even find 'Discussions of the day' on the mobile site! hmm

soontobe Thu 13-Aug-15 15:39:48

I wonder whether it is because there are not that many discussions that reamin discussions and dont turn into disagreements.
At 10.30 am or whenever, on a certain morning, they can only go with what "discussions" are available.

trisher Thu 13-Aug-15 15:28:26

Although "Babysitting" when it was about a GP losing a child might be considered very surreal!

rosesarered Thu 13-Aug-15 14:15:15

This is turning into another surreal thread.grin

Ana Thu 13-Aug-15 13:30:35

thatbags, it is in the Discussions of the Day list - Babysitting.

janeainsworth Thu 13-Aug-15 13:05:20

No Nonnie not one of yours. The OP was called Summer78.

thatbags Thu 13-Aug-15 13:04:55

It isn't in the Discussions of the Day list. It is in the Active list, where it will remain until people stop posting comments on it.

trisher Thu 13-Aug-15 12:58:57

I know the OP asked for it to be removed but how did it make it onto 'Discussions of the day"? that's why I think they don't read things

Nonnie Thu 13-Aug-15 12:36:15

What has been removed? Which thread and was it mine?

merlotgran Thu 13-Aug-15 12:08:14

Why not remove it from the 'discussion of the day' list?

Dunno what's being discusses now. confused

Luckygirl Thu 13-Aug-15 12:02:47

I agree that the most likely explanation is that the OP asked for it to be removed. It is good that HQ respond to these requests.

Ana Thu 13-Aug-15 11:52:44

It sounds as though the OP requested the post to be withdrawn for some reason, perhaps fearing that too much personal information had been disclosed.

trisher Thu 13-Aug-15 11:35:57

Anyone notice that one of the "Discussions of the day" has had its OP deleted. I think it shows how GNHQ are in absolute chaos and delete or remove posts on some sort of whim. In fact I believe they don't even bother to read things! How can you have a discussion about something that isn't there?

POGS Wed 12-Aug-15 11:51:58

Elegran

I agree with your post, especially the last sentence.

Nonnie Wed 12-Aug-15 11:50:57

It is often said that people don't remember what you said but do remember how you made them feel.

trisher Wed 12-Aug-15 10:29:24

I can see that anyone might choose to drop out of a thread for whatever reason you think appropriate, what i don't understand are those who say they are going to drop out and then stay on to explain just how awful the other posters are. Why?

Luckygirl Tue 11-Aug-15 21:57:17

The pms are about anything and everything and not about threads. I am not alone in ducking out of threads that get personal. There is no point in continuing with them - there are plenty of other things to do!

Ana Tue 11-Aug-15 21:26:53

Oh yes, merlot, just what I was thinking!

Ana Tue 11-Aug-15 21:25:54

Well, it gives people a chance to air any grievances they may have...

merlotgran Tue 11-Aug-15 21:25:08

I can't understand why people choose not to post again 'because of the unpleasant behaviour on some threads.' hmm

They then enter into PM conversations presumably about issues discussed on threads they don't want to post on but can't resist reading.

Takes all sorts I suppose.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 11-Aug-15 21:21:02

We like these threads, talking about us, don't we? grin they're always the threads that go and on. grin

Ana Tue 11-Aug-15 21:17:28

Well they don't delete many posts, not even all those that are reported.

There are plenty of threads where controversy never rears its ugly head for peace-loving members to express their views. Why they should choose not to post at all is beyond me.
