Why? tchconfused

There is a very adequate list of emotis under the posting box. Far superior to this imported stuff. Weird. IMHO tchhmm

smile ?
Not really much difference in size - the main difference is that the GN emoticon has a bolder outline than the emoji.

I wouldn't bother with those Ana. Put 'em away.

??????????? let them eat cake!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Dec-15 19:20:53

Having just eaten two chunks of chocolate cake - frozen (forgot to get it out) - that makes me feel slightly sick.

I don't know what those other things are. Traffic warning lanterns? Roman helmets? tchconfused

For the eyes

Indi! It's half the flippin' size!

Ah yes, it is now. Something's happened. When I posted it, the emoji was a proper yellow one, a bit smaller than the GN ones. now it's gone all albino and ghost like, as have all the previously posted ones hmm

Indinana Sat 12-Dec-15 19:46:55

Unless I view this thread on my iPhone or iPad. Then all the emoji (emojis?) are yellow, or whatever colour they're meant to be. And bigger.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Dec-15 20:00:01

Oh yes! Eyes!!!

(magnifying glass in other room) tchhmm

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Dec-15 20:01:03

I don't know why they call them 'emojis' tchhmm 'Emotis' is more rational.

?
I wonder what's the difference? ?

Indinana Sat 12-Dec-15 20:52:54

It seems there is a difference:

Meant to say, the article explains why they're called emoji and not emoticon. Emoticon is a contraction of emotion and icon. Emoji (invented by a Japanese company) is a combination of e and moji, which roughly translates as pictograph. Unlike emoticons, emoji are actual pictures, and haven't developed from text [e.g. :'( or :-) ] like emoticons. And emoticons are designed to express emotions, while emoji aren't, necessarily.

It's all in the article - just put that brief explanation for people who don't like links (like me tchgrin)
