I wonder how many Granddads on gransnet responded to the questions on the page home this morning, such as "What perfume do you wear?".

Lets get away from such gender issues and concentrate the questions of the day on real issues facing our quality of life and those of our extended families.

I would have preferred to have seen a few question about our Grandchildrens eduction, such as the teachings of recent history from the 1900's to today., rather than say "the War of the Roses and Henry V111 etc".

Why so little domestic science or the need for good manners, respect for others, perhaps we can even persuade teacher to set more good example and standard by wearing smart clothing rather than dressing down?

I am sure there are a range of great wide subjects rather than perfume and makeup that grans and granddads would love to air. Lets have your own
view!

50+ years ago my history lessons ended with the year 1832 (don't ask me why that particular date)

Anything else I know I have had to pick up for myself from reading and the tv.
My DC learnt more recent history up to the Cold War I think, and don't know much about 1066 and all that, and goodness knows what the DGC will be learning in future.

Can't help thinking that if someone started a thread entitled Simple Recipes for Non-cooks then, at first glance we'd see it as a female -oriented topic.
We could choose to read on and discover realgranddad s bright and helpful idea!
Stop being so stuck in the male/female rut.
Relax and start/ join in threads that interest you.
Cooking/knitting/housewifery tend not to interest me either but I don't suggest we xhould get rid of them!

Realgranddad clicking on Add comment takes you to the reply box, but it doesn't link your reply to any individual post. If you want to make it clear you are replying to an individual post, the best way is to use the poster's name in your reply and to make it in bold letters as I've done with yours. The instructions for doing this are at the bottom of the page, but all you do is type an asterisk at the start and end of the name (no spaces). You can reply to as many posts as you want at the same time. Hope this helps.
