What's happened to the Welcom to New Members Thread?

It's a term used on all internet forums, not just GN, and means a prioritized or pinned thread.

There are usually three or four at the top of the Active list but sometimes the New Members one seems to disappear!

I have been a member from the start and have never heard of a sticky thread! blush

Back again smile

You do a wonderful job shysal as our unofficial 'meeter and greeter' flowers

Gone again! confused

It's back at the top now, shysal - it shouldn't slip off the Active page as it's supposed to be a sticky thread, but it does seem to disappear for no reason sometimes!

I keep the welcome thread on my 'watching' list and try to reply to all newcomers who post. I wouldn't want them to feel ignored. Obviously if it isn't used for a few days it will slip off the current active list. I have noticed a lot of new names on GN recently, and most just introduce themselves on any thread they join. There is no rule that says they must announce their arrival!smile
May I offer a warm welcome to Marnie and anyone else reading this.

Charleygirl may I just add that if Marnie is using the mobile site things are different.
To send a pm you need to touch on the three dots at the bottom of a persons post and select pm.
To start a thread go to the list of forums and select a heading. Scroll to the bottom of the heading page and select new thread

Welcome Marnie. If you click on Local at the top left hand side of this page GNHQ has written some helpful hints for you. If you want to know anything specific, just PM me by clicking on the Private Message on the line of your name if that makes sense.

What discord Alima ? Just a frank and open exchange of views

Marnie Sat 07-Jan-17 10:22:42

I joined recently and don't understand how to use the site. I have added to a thread or two but they don't always post. I now just read the days "what we are talking about today" and move on. It is such a shame I don't know if I can start thread. There must be more going on then just the daily email ????

Well, it's here but I don't know why it's no longer a sticky...

Wasn't it always pinned near the top of the page? Doesn't anyone new want to join now, what with discord etc?
Probably just me.
