Welcome Rustic.flowers I hope you will soon solve your medical problems, what a worry for you! Gransnet members are great for information, support and advice, as well as a bit of fun sometimes. I don't do any other social media either, GN wastes occupies enough of my time!
To see some of the commonly used abbreviations, look at the 'Acronyms' box above the thread.

Another welcome to Rustic and to everyone else too.
I find the problem with using the iPad is that I go on here rather too often, to the extent of looking at GN during the ad breaks. It was good that you started a recent thread, Rustic, and hope to "see" more of you. I often see new members' posts and then don't see them again. Maybe they just lurk, as the expression seems to be ?

Hello all. I'm new on here but have managed to post a comment today! Really looking forward to getting more involved on here - sooooo much that I want to read! Thanks for having such a perfect site for people at this stage of our lives. I have 5 grandchildren now and am just loving being a grandma and helping my daughters out. I had no local family and no help when I had babies so I know how much they value being nearby and able to involve me in their lives!

shysal Sun 20-Mar-16 07:02:30

Welcome Coolaboutsixtyflowers. It is great being involved with grandchildren isn't it? I hope you will continue to enjoy GN.

I've been lurking for a while so first post here I go! Grandparents to 3 boys and 1 girl - all adorable of course! Love the threads and seeing I'm not so different in thoughts / health / from everyone else on here!
Thanks for the welcome!

I only just saw this thread so may I formally introduce myself smile

I'm a wife, mum and grandmother, going on 60, suffering post men' along with a few other ailments.

Try to make the best of it and wish I'd treated my body with the respect it deserved when I was younger.

It's lovely to find a place for people of our ages to chat with, discuss family and health issues and many other topic's

It helps knowing you're not alone flowers

Hi, I'm new to this thread, as I didn't know the site existed. I'm 59 years of age, have two sons and two grandchildren, however my life is being made miserable by being denied contact with one of my sons and his two children. I'm looking for suggestions on how to resolve this. Thank you for being here.

shysal Mon 21-Mar-16 16:08:24

Glad you have broken the ice Oldyorkie, now you can dip in with confidence.flowers
You are in good company, middleaged, hope you will find plenty to discuss.sunshine
Welcome carole. I am sorry to say that there are quite a few GN members who have been denied contact. It must be miserable for you, but look after yourself. The current thread on the subject is this one.

Hello to everyone on Gransnet. I am a newbie too having joined just last week, and I am absolutely loving it.
Not a Grandma, but I am a Great Auntie so I get to share my lovely Sisters' Grandchildren. I could not wish for more.

shysal Mon 21-Mar-16 18:10:19

Welcome, cookie. flowers As you will have discovered, you definitely don't need to be a grandmother to enjoy Gransnet. I hope it will give you as much pleasure as it has me!

Nanato2plus3 Tue 22-Mar-16 13:13:34

Hi all,
My mother is 'gramma' to my grandchildren - and her own. My mother-in-law is Great-Nana, and I'm Nana to my own, and Nana Mary to my steps....

I have several: 2 by my own son, 2 from my stepson, and 1 from my stepdaughter! The gs from my sd is 17yo - my two youngest ds are 13 and 15! Overall kids range in age from 35 to 13 (3 steps, 4 my own).

I live near Toronto in Canada - in a suburb, Pickering. Looking forward to a trip to Ireland and England in September - popping over to England so my Irish husband can take in a ManU game (ducking!) :-)

Looking forward to getting to know you all - arrived via Momsnet!

shysal Tue 22-Mar-16 16:28:57

Welcome to nanato2plus3 flowers I hope you will enjoy your trip over here. One of my GSs is a ManU supporter, three others Liverpool.
You will find us more sedate than Mumsnet!

Nanato2plus3 Tue 22-Mar-16 17:27:11

Thanks, Shysal!

Hello everyone smile

I registered this morning, asked about walking aids and bingo! I got a recommendation for a rollator and it should be delivered v.soon by Amazon express. Nothing, but nothing will stop me hitting the shops this weekend wink

Hope to speak to you all around the site.

shysal Tue 22-Mar-16 19:16:22

Welcome Alishka. I thought for a moment that you had asked a question about Bingo! blush. You can get helpful replies to any subject on here! I have spent a lot of money over the years on items I didn't even know I needed! I hope your purchase does the trick.

Alishka Tue 22-Mar-16 19:56:43

ROFL @ rollators and bingogrin

I was hoping that my new aid can get me to the art gallery, but if I happen to pass a Bingo hall en route.....why not!

HaveringCultureandLeisure Wed 23-Mar-16 12:47:45

Hello

This is Havering Council's Culture and Leisure team. If anyone is in the East London or south Essex area, we have many cultural events and activities from concerts to arts to health and wellbeing programmes and walks in many of our numerous lovely parks.

For the first time, Havering has also qualified for this year's Britain in Bloom competition and we're working hard to get the community involved.

We've just posted a couple of concerts we've got coming up at Fairkytes Arts Centre in Hornchurch. We'd be very interested to know if local people see them and are interested in us posting more on Gransnet.

Happy to chat if anyone wants further info.

cheers
HC&L

Hi All

I have just found out about you through mumsnet today so I'm pleased I'm in the right age range now!wink

shysal Wed 23-Mar-16 16:35:56

Hi Bizilizi29, welcomeflowers. You will find us a bit more sedate over here, but things can occasionally get a bit heated. I am trying to decide whether 29 is your age or year of birth. I think probably neither! smile

Bizilizi29 Wed 23-Mar-16 22:14:13

It's a house number !

Hello to everyone - I'm another new member. I'm 62, mother of 2 grown-up daughters and 6 grandchildren ranging in age from 4 to 20. I've felt a bit lost since my older daughter moved to the USA in 2014 with her 4 children, though I'm lucky that my younger daughter and son-in-law live with us so I get to spend time every day with her 2 lovely little girls. I think I need some new interests, hence joining GN and I've also joined the local branch of the University of the Third Age, which I would strongly recommend to any older person who wants to meet people and learn something new.

I look forward to talking to all of you!
