HQ - can you clarify a point over which there is some current disagreement please You say that GN cafe is meant to be non- judgemental. Does this only mean non-judgemental re named individuals? if so, under the guidance is it fine to go on and pass judgement( negative of course) about groups of posters on the political ( or any other threads) so long as names aren't mentioned because this counts as being non judgemental?

Elegran, there's always going to be one some. Goodness knows why. Coming to this a bit late due to various family problems. Happy Sunday ?

The idea of holding a virtual party to remember Jo Cox wasn't just a marketing brainwave by GNHQ. Jo's husband, Brendan Cox, and the Jo Cox Foundation were organising and encouraging get-togethers all over the world to mark the anniversary of her death with a celebration of unity in her name. Churches and other organisations throughout Britain and round the whole world joined in and held get-togethers - Buenos Aires, Nairobi, Berlin, Brussels, Sarajevo, Geneva, New York, Beirut, Oslo, Sydney, Melbourne

The OP of the thread about the GN get-together said "This Sunday 18th June around midday we will be taking part in the nationwide celebrations, in honour of the late Jo Cox and her belief that we have #MoreInCommon. " For some posters to object to it and use it to divide was completely against that togetherness.

I've just read the early part of this thread and wish to make a comment about the "bringing into the gransnet cafe" (paraphrased) of Jo Cox.

Jo Cox has not been 'brought in' or used. Her most central argument has, the one where she talks about people having more in common than divides them. That is not Jo Cox. It's an idea she articulated very well. It seems to have become a kind of epitaph for her. It's the idea that has been brought in. Obviously it is very much associated with a person who passionately believed in it but who was tragically murdered.

durhamjen Sun 18-Jun-17 18:57:19

Try that again, MawBroon.
Aficionados?

MawBroon Sun 18-Jun-17 18:54:56

<whisper> aficianados
(1F and no E )
Just because I know how easily upset you are at wrong spellings.

Ana Sun 18-Jun-17 18:54:40

As I've mentioned somewhere else on this thread, SK didn't start out under the 'GN Cafe' heading, which was only introduced by GNHQ recently, and there were many objections to the arbitrary plonking of the thread there without a word of warning.

So although SK was supposed to be a refuge from the more argumentative threads, it never set out to be 'non-judgemental' etc.

Rigby46 Sun 18-Jun-17 18:45:23

So SK not quite so shiny and squeaky clean as has been presented on this thread by its afficienados?

merlotgran Sun 18-Jun-17 14:20:33

did not mean everyone.

merlotgran Sun 18-Jun-17 14:19:28

If you read my post, N&G you will see I mentioned that jingl had some genuine supporters in SK so obviously I did not everyone.

Yes. kitty, that's what I meant.

trisher Sun 18-Jun-17 14:09:18

Not "The whole of GN" as I think everyone knows, but as ever if people want to carry on playing the "Not me" game they are perfectly welcome to.

Ana Sun 18-Jun-17 14:04:17

Hmmm...

kittylester Sun 18-Jun-17 13:44:55

I think so but Merlot will put us right.

NanaandGrampy Sun 18-Jun-17 13:11:54

Ah I see Kitty I wasn't sure so thought I'd ask the question . So by people she meant the whole of GN . Got it. Thanks ?
