Penny for your thoughts...

We're thinking a strapline/sub-heading thingy might be a nice thing to have. Mumsnet has "By parents for parents" but what would work best for Gransnet?

We've canvassed the good folk at GNHQ/MNHQ who had two clear favourites from a longer list. What we'd love to know is whether you prefer one or t'other - or whether you have any other thoughts about what would work. The two in question are

Older, wiser but definitely not quieter

A bit older, a lot wiser

Thanking you grin

Gemini, I'm not a grandparent. Should I bow out? envy

The Leaders of the Pack (vroom! vroom!)

Don't Call Us Seniors; We're Greying Tigers (this one adapted from David Sedaris)

Not Dead Yet (okay, I'll get my coat).

Just realised what rosesarered's suggestion reminded me of and I haven't seen her post on here for a while. Is that why there's a grin?

Conversely we could have "not dead yet"

Gransnet people :The perfect Vintage !

I'm with Baggs. Don't see the need but, if there has to be one, why not along the same lines as Mumsnet's.....?
> "By grandparents, for grandparents "....
Does what it says on the tin.

Still crazy after all these years?

Swanny Wed 02-Aug-17 09:41:38

Don't like 'witty, wise and warm' either as you only have to look at certain threads to know that doesn't apply to some GNers grin

Do like something along the lines of 'warm welcome to the world' even if that sounds as though it might be seen in a maternity delivery room grin We do have members around the world though ...

I like Mamacaz idea

pen50 Wed 02-Aug-17 09:36:22

I started thinking about the Jimi Hendrix album "Are You Experienced?" But that is of course my generation.

If Jimi had lived he'd be a Granddad by now - or even Great-Granddad.

Sorry if I offended you Ggmk2! flowers

I'm 68 - sort of middle aged in grans terms, I imagine. grin

GracesGranMK2 Wed 02-Aug-17 09:28:57

I am not keen on 'another bite of life'.

I am sorry you didn't like it kitty - I'm afraid it was the best I could offer. You sound like a very young Gran so I am sure you will be able to come up with something we all like.

MamaCaz Wed 02-Aug-17 08:50:28

A wealth of wit and wisdom

kittylester Wed 02-Aug-17 08:30:39

Like that roses!

rosesarered Wed 02-Aug-17 08:28:33

What about 'still alive and kicking! ' grin

kittylester Wed 02-Aug-17 08:27:05

I like both those but we are more than that. We are supportive too.

I know, 'Absolutely Brilliant in Every Way!' - cos we are!!grin

Imperfect27 Wed 02-Aug-17 08:22:28

Strident and sassy?

Anya Wed 02-Aug-17 08:08:55

Sagacious but saucy.

Imperfect27 Wed 02-Aug-17 07:55:43

I don;t like ' wiser' , but I think there is a place for 'wisdom' - not claiming to be 'better than', but stating a fact that we have a lot to offer grin

And yes, witty, wry ...

If we include something along the lines of 'lively' I think it seems like we are protesting too much (spritely then comes into mind and that isn't helpful!)

'Wit' covers cleverness and sharpness of mind too so I like that!

kittylester Wed 02-Aug-17 07:11:07

I'm still chewing the first bite!!!

kittylester Wed 02-Aug-17 06:50:57

I am not keen on 'another bite of life'. I am still chewing the bite.

We are not different from the rest of the world just because we've been here longer.

I felt very patronised yesterday by a representative of WEA who asked me if I'd like to learn to use a smart phone but didn't ask the 40 year old next to me! We need to get away from the idea that we are a different 'race' from younger people.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 01-Aug-17 22:59:34

1. We are not all of one generation.
2. Grans are not all pensioners with perms.
3. Even if they are pensioners they have not all descended to the female equivalent (or male) of the pipe and slippers stage.
4. The wisdom thing. If you were wise when you were young you are probably wise now. If not, probably not. It's arrogant to think it is an age thing.
5. Whatever it is could it be positive please.

Menopaws Tue 01-Aug-17 22:28:44

A site for sore eyes/knees/hips et al !!

Baggs Tue 01-Aug-17 22:11:39

Is it trendy to have a strapline or something? I don't see the need and I do see the difficulty of trying to sum up something so complex and all-(well almost all)-embracing in a few words. The idea seems a bit trite to me.

Having said that, the Mumsnet one is okay.
