We're thinking a strapline/sub-heading thingy might be a nice thing to have. Mumsnet has "By parents for parents" but what would work best for Gransnet?

We've canvassed the good folk at GNHQ/MNHQ who had two clear favourites from a longer list. What we'd love to know is whether you prefer one or t'other - or whether you have any other thoughts about what would work. The two in question are

Older, wiser but definitely not quieter

A bit older, a lot wiser

Thanking you grin

M0nica Tue 01-Aug-17 09:24:18

Personally, I dislike both. The first is clunky, the second is hackneyed.

Age does not have to come into it, it is Gransnet.

How about The value of experience. That is just for starters. I am sure other Gransnetters will come up with much better, snappier ones.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 01-Aug-17 09:26:19

Ooh liking that!

The second one was originally A bit older, a lot wiser (most of the time) but brackets don't work very well in a strapline. Point about age totally taken

I love M0nica's suggestion.

Grannyknot Tue 01-Aug-17 09:44:54

How about:
"Gransnet: we are experienced".

smile

I like monica's suggestion too but would like to have something that shows that we are fun too, similar to your first choice but not that! confused

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 01-Aug-17 09:47:26

Yes that's the very thing - so hard to encapsulate experience, support and having a laugh in one line.

Imperfect27 Tue 01-Aug-17 09:56:20

I like the diea of a strapline, but not keen on either of first 2 suggestions for same reasons stated above. I also like Monica's suggestion better.

What about something like ..'

Find wisdom, fun, friendship and fullness of life ...

Maybe got a bit carried away with the 'f's smile

MrsAllboys Tue 01-Aug-17 09:57:14

What about 'Grandma Nose'. A sort of pun, suggesting humour but also hinting at the wisdom of experience ??smile

Eglantine19 Tue 01-Aug-17 10:03:24

Oh Grannyknot, your suggestion sounds a bit like...well I'm blushing as I type!

Riverwalk Tue 01-Aug-17 10:06:26

As you're having a bit of a re-design what about a new logo?

The current one is very 'nostalgic & wartime' - my mother is 91 this year but even she was only a teenager during the war!

Alima Tue 01-Aug-17 10:29:01

Definitely need a new logo I think. There was a discussion about this very recently. Reminds me of the Women's Land Army. Sorry Grannyknot I also think "We are experienced" sounds a bit iffy. Prefer Monica's suggestion over the suggested two.

Greyduster Tue 01-Aug-17 10:38:53

I like MOnica's suggestion, too, but to tweak that, and pinch a bit from MrsAllboys, how about 'the value of wisdom and experience'? I don't like the logo much either.

sunseeker Tue 01-Aug-17 10:40:17

Old enough to know better, young enough not to care.

henetha Tue 01-Aug-17 10:51:46

How about Older but no wiser.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 01-Aug-17 10:57:15

Yes Tizliz - good point. It's absolutely not just for grans - it's for anyone who fancies joining in - be they grans, granddads or neither.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 01-Aug-17 10:58:34

And yes - looking at the logo as well as other bits and bobs. It seems to split people right down the middle. Very Marmite!

Elegran Tue 01-Aug-17 10:58:47

Old enough to know a bit about life, young enough to enjoy it.

whitewave Tue 01-Aug-17 11:01:55

Just read through the posts and then decide whether age makes us wiser or more experiencedgrin
Who are we kidding!!

Tizliz Tue 01-Aug-17 11:04:22

How about 'old enough to know better, wise enough not to care'

ffinnochio Tue 01-Aug-17 11:15:29

Embracing Life

....... because that's what we all do, isn't it? The good and the bad and the everydayness of it.

I vote for a new logo.

Riverwalk Tue 01-Aug-17 11:25:54

Gransnet
That Generation

JackyB Tue 01-Aug-17 11:46:29

"Embracing life" is good - I was going to suggest "Come here for a cuddle".

And yes - the logo is not really very apt.

kittylester Tue 01-Aug-17 12:02:56

Whilst all the suggestions are good, I don't think any of them convey the irreverence or warmth of the site.
