I wasn't bothered about the font but comparing GN to MN does show how much clearer the sans serif one is.

Even if you did that, MissAdventure, you'd only get one person's view.

Maybe you could post a tiny hint of your problem and invite others to PM you? That sounds like a great arrangement, not.

Having a quick look at mumsnet really confirms how clear their serif-free font is and how old-fashioned this one is.
Almost like - modern for one generation and fuddy-duddy for the old dears.
Despite all the expressions of dislike, we've been told we're stuck with. I'd bet a change of font would be very easy to do.
It's also tough luck missadventure and anyone else looking for support as trawling threads for juicy gossip and titillation is commercially more important.

Missadventure I think you might be in for a long wait I really think it was a huge mistake of HQ to ask for opinions and then not take any notice of even one
500+ posts mostly disagreeing or giving new suggestions and nothing taken any notice of They would have been better off just making their changes without a fanfare or a plea for help and taking whatever flak people gave if they noticed or bothered
It was a huge mistake to whip up excitement and then thrash it down

Awaiting news regarding the idea of some kind of private area for posters who wish to have some kind of anonymity, sometimes.

Since the makeover I find my posts hover for quite a while before actually posting. This is all the time. Wonder if anyone else finds this?

I think we need to remember that we are not the customers of this forum; we are simply here to provide free copy and it is our choice to do that. The customers are the fee paying advertisers, etc.

Like Maw I find that on my phone or sometimes the ipad I hit the Acronym button instead of the Active if I'm not really careful, it's difficult on a phone where everything is tiny. Can this be rearranged, or is it too late?

I think they did Serkeen, retrospectively anyway. However it seems to be a case of if you don't agree with the changes then tough, that's the way things are going to be.

Perhaps even a vote, as users are the main blood of gransnet I just feel it would be appropriate for gransnetters to have their opinion heard

To be fair, Lara, you and GNHQ may have been VERY excited, as you said. It's such a shame us GN users were less so.

Also, you never claimed that you would change anything we didn't like, only said you'd love to hear our thoughts, so I hope you did have a wonderful time hearing them.

Maryellen I ve been here about four years and loath the initials which can be confusing as some people use wrong ones in their hurry ( a recent thread was talking about a DD which became a DG half way through) and the darling business gets right up my nose but you have to go with what the majority use and grit your teeth I always spell the words in full myself as I have no intention of joining in on something that I don't like just because everyone else does it

So despite the majority of posters making their dislike of this font absolutely clear, GNHQ is saying we're well and truly stuck with it?

Since they are not in fact acronyms, why not change the heading to abbreviations ? Clearer and more accurate!

As a new member l have to say l love Gransnet and enjoy reading the post in the forum, but l struggle when members use initials rather than using the actual word...l'm sure it's just a matter of time before l get use to it
