Deleted PMs - This is important

I am beginning to wonder whether it is mostly fall-out from Jalima's spring-cleaning her inbox and outbox.

Others must have been springcleaning too, before I did.

So nobody should feel rejected if their past messages from a poster are deleted, we are just tidying up.

I was in the middle of a conversation when I went to answer next day hers had been deleted and after that about seven of hers were deleted I messaged to ask if I d offended her and she knew nothing about it and was as puzzled as me SHE HAD NOT CLEARED HER INBOX. And is still an active member

No, it's not because of that Elegran - I was alerted to this a couple of weeks ago by another poster and neither of us had deleted the said post. We thought it was just a one-off and weren't sure why it had happened.

I only 'spring-cleaned' this morning after being alerted by this thread of yesterday's date as I wondered if I'd been hacked.
Then I realised that deleting posts in both in box and sent box deleted the messages from anyone else's post too.

Maggie My deleted posts were to and from annep as well.

Having posts that I have had nothing deleted, I have now had pms deleted bit he from maw, jalima and dragonfly.

I don’t think so as I was alerted to it before I first posted and Jalima doesn’t feature in more than a few of the PMs I have had deleted.

Odd, isn’t it? I don’t send or get many PMs (another Billy No Mates here ), but several have gone, all from Jalima and annep, dating back to last June.

I have replied Elegran better catch it quickly before somebody at GNHQ eats it.

OK. Several from Jalima have been deleted, but I shall ignore those. A couple more from MawBrown at the beginning of January - probably New Year Greetings so not important, plus one from someone who is no longer a member..

I think we have to blame the system, deleting ALL vestige of a message if the sender is having a spring-clean or if it is one with multiple recipients and one of those has deleted their copy. Not a very good way for it to work, there could be information it them that we want to keep.

If the message mentioned any other posters, it does feel suspiciously as though it has been targetted for the bin. I hope that is not the case.

A message sent by mawb last July has been deleted, my response has not. Nothing controversial about either. This is starting to be more than irritating.

I have just started to look at my message. So far found two received in Jan and Feb have been deleted, one from Bradford Lass (about a futurelearn Course) and one from MawBroon. No idea why.

I have replied to both of them, which seems to be possible, so I shall continue to check and reply and we can pool information.

If it is that the system is set to do this, then the least that could happen is that a notification of the deletion is sent, dated at the deletion, not just an undated label slapped on the message.

I also like a neat in/out box, but I like to be the one to decide which to keep not GNHQ - (do you think they are off for half-term)?

What is the point of deleting them anyway?

I delete all but very important emails too.

It went back to last June MawBroon - one from 3rd June was deleted.

Time for a comment from GNHQ I think. And don’t give us “temporary glitch” this covers a period of 3 months or more.

What is the point of deleting them anyway? They sit quite happily in the inbox for years and it is niceto refer back to them.

Thank you Jalima, I shall now be very cautious of clearing out / deleting PMs as I would not like to offend anyone.

It seems to be a very odd system, but apparently so, GrannyGravy.

If just one person in a group pm deletes the message, then it gets withdrawn altogether apparently.

I am a complete technophobe- looking for help?

If I delete a sent or received PM does it automatically delete it from the senders / receivers message box also?

Because that isn't how it works with emails.

I just received 2 PM’s from same poster , First was deleted at users request, the second I was able to read

Maw’s message to me and three others on 2 Jan has been deleted at the user’s request. All others appear to be there.
