Should repetitive inane posters be removed?

If a post, which may be posted by someone who may or may not fit the description of a troll, who repeatedly posts identical repetitive posts , which add nothing to the discussion in hand, be removed ? Just putting that out there for discussion.

It is totally irrelevant whether AC is a real ,very stupid person or a bot being manipulated from a fake news factory in the Ukraine. Nobody cares.

boat Wed 20-Mar-19 18:52:34

Actually, I'm not sure AC is a real person. I would find it really hard to write like that. Is it the manifestation of an AI experiment? It's just so off kilter.

Anyway, as long as it's not sucking up our bank details I say, "ignore". When I see that poster's ID I just scroll through to the next one.

Someone has to Anniebach - perhaps the LP will get the message in the end!!

Ps it's not a crime grin

Anniebach Wed 20-Mar-19 15:06:11

Jalima so i am guilty of one crime ?

Gonegirl Wed 20-Mar-19 14:51:44

Ah! No I'm not. This is Gransnet.

Gonegirl Wed 20-Mar-19 14:51:17

I am amazed this ridiculous thread hasn't died a death.

Jalima1108 Wed 20-Mar-19 14:33:32

As I have been told I write posts which make no sense ,inane? Been told to stop repeating facts , repetitive?
Definitely not Anniebach!!

Keep right on smile

Criticising one party leader , annoying ?
Others do that too, but not Jezza

POGS Wed 20-Mar-19 14:02:39

Terribull

". Good God there's a lot of vitriol, bile and nastiness on the internet these days, but the "repetitive" poster doesn't stray into that territory from what I've seen."
---

I agree.

Vitriol, Bile and Nastiness are more of a reason to
' remove' a poster over that of somebody boring the life out of somebody.

TerriBull Wed 20-Mar-19 13:55:25

"What is inane/annoying/repetitive to one person is not to another" POGS I do agree, many of us have our particular interests and what could be deemed by some as idiosyncratic points of view/beefs. It's way too high handed to ban contributors on that basis. Certain topics, are almost certain to attract the usual posters again and again. Yes I think, it's somewhat imperious to suggest that, should a poster reiterate the same contrary opinions, albeit in a somewhat trite/tongue in cheek manner they should be banned. Good God there's a lot of vitriol, bile and nastiness on the internet these days, but the "repetitive" poster doesn't stray into that territory from what I've seen.

Seems I am at the front of the queue ?

It's a case of "Here we go again, a predictable post in a predictable style" <yawn> Best to skip over them, given they don't add to the discussion.

The poster in question has been careful not to break the T&Cs but I feel certain s/he knows exactly what s/he's doing. They are even ensuring the grammar and punctuation of their posts is stylised.

sodapop Wed 20-Mar-19 12:20:37

I agree MamaCaz ignoring is the best course of action.

POGS Wed 20-Mar-19 08:41:30

"Stop talking about other GNrs behind their backs."
----

That raises the question when does the accuser /accusers of another poster being ' a troll' become / be viewed as ' a troll' themselves?

What is inane / annoying / repetitive to one person is not to another. As the saying goes ' To see ourselves as others see us'.

It would therefore be a rocky road to ' remove.' a Gransnet user just because we think they are inane/repetative/annoying as that is in the eye of the beholder.

MamaCaz Tue 19-Mar-19 20:03:06

The posts in question just come over as immature attention seeking. Ignoring them is probably the best action.

Jalima1108 Tue 19-Mar-19 19:52:44

Stop talking about other GNrs behind their backs.
You are right Gonegirl

andy are you an inane male poster?

Jalima1108 Tue 19-Mar-19 19:49:50

I think i'll risk the methane and get some of those crunchy onion thingys. (Thingies?)
They do sound delish, MissA,and may keep the vampires at bay (or is that crunchy garlic?)

It can be a bit daunting at first, especially if you are male.
Who can tell anja, who can tell?
Although ….. yes, perhaps you're right
No woman could be --that inane-

Jalima1108 Tue 19-Mar-19 19:47:03

do you mean to say that Boris is on here?

varian Tue 19-Mar-19 19:29:57

Another person who really should be banned from GN

andycameron69 Tue 12-Mar-19 19:54:32

lovely to see you ,love this thread greatly

such fun

Gonegirl Tue 12-Mar-19 17:46:47

hmm

Gonegirl Tue 12-Mar-19 17:46:21

Oh you must know what I mean. Discussing posters, and what they have said, on other threads.

mcem Tue 12-Mar-19 17:38:30

I am slightly impressed that the "lovely ladies/ dearies" posts seem to have gone and recent posts are marginally more coherent. What's wrong with saying so?
Don't understand how "talking behind the backs of posters" is possible on an open forum (unless pm's are whizzing to and fro!)

Anja Tue 12-Mar-19 15:54:40

I’d be tempted to say ‘good riddance’ and answer in kind but one doesn’t like to lower the tone any further.

Cherrytree59 Tue 12-Mar-19 15:53:49

Agree with Gonegirl

Just looked at thread after posting at the start
Talking about another GNer whether upfront or behind their back is not what GN is aboutsad

Gonegirl Tue 12-Mar-19 15:42:12

grin
