My impression of that thread differed from yours, MaryEliza.
No-one was at all nasty to the original poster, except a little perhaps in pointing out that their sympathies were with the dog for not having a clear programme of approval/disapproval. But none of those posts were deleted.
The OP had lots of serious answers, to which he/she replied with more detail, most of which reinforced the common opinion that they were not suited to owning a dog and trying to train it.
Some posters, and I was one of them, got the impression that it may have been a windup aimed at the many dog-lovers known to be here. It was started on APRIL FIRST, for goodness sake, when everyone's antennae are alert for windups. Goodnatured windups, that is, not trolls, - and you know what? NO-ONE accused him/her of being a troll, just of having us on for - again goodnaturedly.
My own post - I'll repeat it again here and see whether it survives - said "A good day for asking for advice!" Just how was that an attack worth deletion and referral to the guidelines?
Posters were told off by GNHQ like naughty schoolchildren and their posts deleted. A sledgehammer to crack a peanut, in my opinion.
