I wonder if you could please tell me something that is rather puzzling me at the moment. It is only a small thing and I really don't want to take up a lot of your time. I think Strictly May be on tv soon, if not now, and I expect you want to settle down in front of it. smile

The thing is, norty words in thread titles are allowed on MN. But not on here. Is that because we are the big girls and, therefore, expected to behave in a well brought up, ladylike manner.

If this is the reason, I quite understand smile and I will in future, if I have a future on GN, try to avoid the very worst of them. Like tits, bum, and bollocks.

Thank you for your very kind attention. smile

F for frigging in the rigging? There's eff all else to do.

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 20:09:35

Who is this "bully" anyway?! I sure as hell hope you don't mean me!

merlotgran Mon 09-Sept-19 20:06:23

I don't think anyone's going to admit to any artificial enhancements, Bathsheba grin

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 20:05:46

love0c I take it you meant GN posters?

No one is "ridiculing" anyone at GNHQ. Wouldn't dream of it actually. Just having a little laugh. smile

Bathsheba Mon 09-Sept-19 19:09:40

What's a GM poster? A genetically modified poster? Have we got any of those on GN? hmm

GrannyGravy13 Mon 09-Sept-19 18:58:20

E for eff it!!!

love0c Mon 09-Sept-19 18:45:26

Gransnet I thought your job was to support GM posters? Make sure they were not targeted by unkind posters etc. Allowing yourself to be ridiculed is like a school saying they have a 'no bullying policy', but then when bullying takes place they put the victim in the library out of the way and the bully is free to continue. My opinion of course.

D. 'I know you prefer to be called Richard but you're such a Dick.'

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 18:03:10

Perhaps we'd better. shockgrin

merlotgran Mon 09-Sept-19 17:56:35

Can we please skip C? grin

Chewbacca Mon 09-Sept-19 17:38:42

B could be "I've dropped a bollock, was I being unreasonable? "

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 16:06:29

Carillion just looked at that book on Amazon. Extract:

"I am certainly not a thinking man's Anna Raeburn, so you must solve your own problems." is the best put down ever."

Could be useful on here! shockgrin

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 16:03:05

Try it trisher.

Something along the lines of,

Title: "I have got a pain in my arse."

First post " Can anyone help please?"

See what happens.

trisher Mon 09-Sept-19 15:52:26

I'm just wondering what might be considered too norty for a thread title, but OK for posting in a thread. I mean there are obvious ones but apart from those 4 letter ones what else wouldn't be allowed. Maybe this should be a new sort of game- Forbidden words A-Z. Now is arse?

Carillion01 Mon 09-Sept-19 15:44:08

Got nothing to do tonight now that the bunfight's off

Might as well get some culture

Gonegirl, can I borrow your copy of "The Henry Root " letters?

merlotgran Mon 09-Sept-19 13:34:31

Nah! I'll go with the flow. Just hope I put my asterisks in the right place.

hides placard in cupboard just in case.

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 13:31:41

Yeah. Bet you 'ave. hmm grin

You argue with 'em. I'm scared.

merlotgran Mon 09-Sept-19 13:30:04

So we won't be needing our protest banners?

Been up half the night painting mine. grin

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 13:08:55

Lara must be on holiday. Phew! [mops brow with relief]

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 13:07:20

Whispers...

Got off lightly didn't I?! shock

Gonegirl Mon 09-Sept-19 13:06:10

Oh right. Ok. smile

Sorry, we were just struggling with a particularly crunchy Werther's. May have to go for the chewy version next time. wink

So, swearing. We are all grown ups and no one is going to get sent to the naughty step for using a curse (or three). Actually, there is the odd exception to this - see our Netiquette section for details. But generally, fine. We know a lot of people don't like it, however, so it's good to keep it down a bit. But generally, not a problem.

However it's a bit more tricky when a swear word appears in a thread title, as those titles get pulled out onto our home page and elsewhere, so better to save it for the OP. Even Mumsnet, which devotees will know is a just a tad more sweary than GN grin, swear words are asterisked out of thread titles in the newsletter.

yes Jura - the current incarnation can either be ignored or enjoyed. Given our political landscape currently, I'm keen to find a smile where I can.

Gonegirl Sun 08-Sept-19 21:10:42

It's allowed!!!

grin

jura2 Sun 08-Sept-19 20:28:48

Honestly ?
