Bloody whinging Gransnetters

Always bashing certain members of the royal family and going on as if only their views can be the correct ones.

The ones who think they can own other human beings.

The ones who expect a person, just because they happen to be royal, to have no entitlement to any normal human feelings.

I wonder how perfect they are in their own lives.

I also wonder how they get their mountains of inside knowledge of the royal family, and how they can be sure of its accuracy.

hmm

I don't criticise them. I don't care about them. I just wish they'd all go away and leave space in newspapers and TV for real news.

trisher Tue 22-Oct-19 11:42:35

That's the RF by the way but you could apply it to whinging
GNers

Anniebach Tue 22-Oct-19 11:43:18

You care enough to defend some of them trisher

Smileless2012 Tue 22-Oct-19 11:43:20

EllanVannin brilliantgrin; do you have copy right? I know of several friends who'd like to make use of that.

Beckett Tue 22-Oct-19 11:46:35

Count me in as another who hates snow. I live in a rural area and can get snowed in. Those who claim to love it probably live in cities where roads are regularly cleared, a bus service operates and the shops open!

SirChenjin Tue 22-Oct-19 11:49:49

Exactly Beckett! I love looking out at the snow if I don’t actually have to go anywhere in it, otherwise it’s a nightmare

Anniebach Tue 22-Oct-19 12:15:05

I don’t even like looking at it

Rufus2 Tue 22-Oct-19 13:53:37

That was from someone who had visited your city grin and was "freezing cold" the whole time.
Callistemon; Your friend was obviously jet-lagged the whole time she was here! grin Remember, OZ is a big continent; easy to get lost.
I suggest she keeps away from these new 19 hour non-stop Qantas flights; must be soul-destroying!
Annie: you forget I spent the first half of my life in England and successfully avoided visiting mid-Wales, the rest of Wales, Scotland and Ireland!, but they all look marvellous on TV docs.grin We don't ever get snow here and now I confess to feeling sad at not being able ever to wake and look out on a Winter wonderland! sad
We can get to "Snowy" mountains, but only after several hours and it costs an arm and a leg when we get there! But it's no good feeling envious!
Cheers wine wine wine

Callistemon Tue 22-Oct-19 16:02:23

No, Rufus, she had travelled from FNQ to Melbourne! grin

OK, someone else did ask why she hadn't consulted BOM hmm

Callistemon Tue 22-Oct-19 16:07:05

I have got loster (is that a word?) in Wales than in Australia.

In Australia it seems to be " Take the highway, straight on until you reach a right turn after about 120k, the house will be on your left after 10k. You can't miss it."

Rufus2 Wed 23-Oct-19 13:01:02

I have got loster (is that a word?) in Wales than in Australia

Callistemon; Of course it is! Ernie Wise would have approved grin I imagine you'd be even more loster in Wales than in England, what with all those foreign language signposts!
Just a profound thought; does a GPS system in Wales issue directions in Welsh? hmm
Btw Your friend should have been here today; very hot and 33C promised for tomorrow~! What's not to like, as we "moderns" like to say! grin OoRoo

CleoPanda Wed 23-Oct-19 13:10:18

Gonegirl - totally agree with your original post.
Some people have to have someone to despise, criticise and complain about. It seems, if they can’t find a suitable outlet close to home, they pick an unknown person to rant about.
Ideally, it’s someone, they haven’t met, have never spoken to; don’t know. They take their “facts” from gutter press, hacks, tabloids and gossip mongers. They don’t care if any of the gossip is based on truth. They don’t see these people as “real”, just subjects for their bad humour to vent against.
I’m not a Royal “fan” but I find the vitriol and hate against them baffling and obnoxious.

Callistemon Wed 23-Oct-19 13:31:09

Even hotter where she is Rufus - in fact, becoming rather unbearable.

Four seasons in one day where you are though, so she said!

Rufus2 Wed 23-Oct-19 13:38:51

Cleo; It seems to me, and I'm guessing here, that those "some people" are Grannies. You never get Grandads or DHs guilty of that of which you complain or are they told to sit down and shut up!?
Or. as my Mam was wont to say "has the cat got your tongue?" grin
Oh Happy Day

Anniebach Wed 23-Oct-19 13:51:48

Rufas I am puzzled, you say Wales has foreign language signposts, no we don’t, we have Welsh signposts.

Ooops, sorry we do have foreign language sign posts, they are in English ?

Rufus2 Wed 23-Oct-19 14:39:17

Four seasons in one day where you are though, so she said!
That's just an Urban Myth!; hmm Now we get just 2 seasons in one year; Summer /Winter, each about 6 months long, so she'll find it easier to pack depending which one she picks.
Hong Kong type umbrellas are always recommended though, to keep out the rain or the fierce sun, but she'll be used to that!
Cheers

Rufus2 Wed 23-Oct-19 14:57:45

Annie; That's good to know! Helps to show English visitors the way out, otherwise they'd become even "loster." grin

"nos da a breuddwydion melys"

Crikey! You wouldn't find that on a signpost! grin

Bridgeit Wed 23-Oct-19 15:02:09

Spot on CleoPanda.
Sometimes when I read these comments, I am transported back to the village of my childhood, experiencing the lips pursed, arms folded ladies giving some poor unaware neighbour a verbal bashing .
I use to wonder why they didn’t care, & how they could sleep at night or look at themselves in a mirror. Sad to say I still don’t have the answer. But I did leave the village!
Mostly I get angry that folks can offer up opinions & criticism about MM & her father as if they had been privy to their entire relationship. No one knows but them & it’s not our business.
Exactly As Gonegirl says in her OP .

pinkquartz Wed 23-Oct-19 15:10:42

But aren't you do the same thing?

an opinion is just that.

I don't hate them... I feel I can say what I want to as a citizen of UK.

And they exist as Royals because the public allows them to be Royal.
We could start demanding that they be removed. As long as we don't follow the French method why not?
wink grin
I would prefer the culling like in Sweden

CleoPanda Wed 23-Oct-19 15:24:02

Some people easily confuse Free Speech with Hate Speech or I have To Have A Venom Filled Rant At Someone Speech.

Fennel Wed 23-Oct-19 15:30:53

trisher, yesterday:
"I don't criticise them. I don't care about them. I just wish they'd all go away and leave space in newspapers and TV for real news"
That's my attitude too. Except for our Queen, who somehow always manages to set a good example for our country.
She obviously knows about her family's various problems. As we all do about ours. But keeps quiet about them.

Callistemon Wed 23-Oct-19 17:54:05

Rufas I am puzzled, you say Wales has foreign language signposts, no we don’t, we have Welsh signposts.
Annie grin

Ooops, sorry we do have foreign language sign posts, they are in English
No!
I think both languages are official in Wales wink

Callistemon Wed 23-Oct-19 17:57:32

nos da a breuddwydion melys
Ah, sweet smile

Rufus2 Thu 24-Oct-19 13:00:05

nos da a breuddwydion melys
Callistemon^
Didn't realise you're Welsh too! You speaka da lingo sehr gut! Or should that be "da jawn"?
I think it's remarkable that we should be able to carry on an intelligent conversation inspite of all the whingeing flak flying overhead. grin Perhaps it's time to don tin hats or evacuate to a calmer thread!
What do you reckon Annie? wink

Callistemon Thu 24-Oct-19 13:03:40

I only have a smattering, sorry!
I could always ask the DGC for a translation though grin
