spout ignorant remarks

How is this acceptable?

Is it OK for one poster to say exactly as she wishes and not abide by the rules?

I was under the impression that insults were not permitted.

It is insulting to call somebody ignorant.

Many thanks.

Oopsminty how do you survive if you don't eat? shock

We don't have elaborate meals but I do enjoy dinner!
Tonight was chicken with garlic butter, wrapped in bacon, jacket spuds and veg.

Hi grapefruitpip,

Please can you use the 'report' function for comments that you think are against our guidelines so we can look into them for you. smile

Sigh! Mine has hobbies. I would prefer the cooking.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 24-Oct-19 19:18:49

Gonegirl he is retired without any hobbies I have to put him to good use, sitting reading all day is not healthy!!!

Oopsminty Thu 24-Oct-19 19:18:25

My word, GG13. How lovely!

We don't tend to eat now the children have all gone

Actually one is due back this evening for 10 days so we'll start eating again

By eating I mean a proper meal.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 19:15:27

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 19:15:10

Show off.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 24-Oct-19 19:13:16

I am having an organic Pinot Grigio, Mr Gravy is cooking dinner (Venison (first meat for me since Sunday) dauphinois potatoes, fine green beans and courgettes)

If we start getting so easily offended by 'rude' remarks it just kills off any useful discussion. Do we want threads where everyone agrees with the OP? How boring! No wonder there are silly question posts in an attempt to keep things moving.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 19:07:22

I am about to pop a vitamin pill. Had a Waitrose steak pie for my dinner, gave DH veg and potatos with his, but I just had the pie.

I hate vegetables.

Callistemon Thu 24-Oct-19 19:03:37

It's another Gransnetters' magical mystery tour

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 19:02:19

They won't be ars*d to delete this.

Callistemon Thu 24-Oct-19 19:02:08

I did.

Please keep up at the back wink

Dinner's not ready, just having an unhealthy glass of Sav Blanc while I wait.
Must remember not to swig my pills down with wine.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 19:01:00

Oh! You're there! You don't have to put non swear words in code. hmm

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 19:00:01

Why didn't that come out properly?

sm*g

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 18:58:41

I just wanna know what smg is. That's all.

Callistemon! Stop eating yer dinner and come and tell me.

Callistemon Thu 24-Oct-19 18:58:37

smug, Gonegirl

{It's not swearing!}

Greenfinch grin

Greenfinch Thu 24-Oct-19 18:52:57

This thread seems to be "an exchange of mutual mystification".

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 18:50:29

The what word? confused

Callistemon Thu 24-Oct-19 18:29:00

grapefruitpip
I've just had another look at the gut and pills thread; possibly it became rather 'lively' and you and I (and others) could be guilty of using the sm*g word more than once, so I'm not sure if that could be considered equally offensive.

I would think Let it Go, Let it Go ....

I expect this will be deleted soon as a thread about a thread anyway.

grapefruitpip Thu 24-Oct-19 18:25:57

Ok many thanks.

Callistemon Thu 24-Oct-19 18:17:52

I'm just wondering whether it's the ignorant or the spouting which is offensive

hmm

Callistemon Thu 24-Oct-19 18:16:26

Aw man, who exactly do you think you are?
Is that an offending post?
hmm

If you report the offending post, grapefruitpip, then HQ can decide whether it's a personal attack and whether or not it should be deleted.

Greenfinch Thu 24-Oct-19 18:12:38

I was thinking of the more informal meaning of ignorant ie discourteous or rude. This is one of the problems of the English language :the same word can have several meanings and on GN it is not always clear what a poster is saying.

Gonegirl Thu 24-Oct-19 18:12:24

grin Never mind. Laugh it off.
