to post any story at all about Meghan and Harry no matter how lacking in evidence from whatever gutter source? Can they just be libelled by posts on GN because it’s open season on them and they therefore have no rights? Opinion is one thing but on here it’s now often inseparable from lies.

I am going to buy some Sottish shortbread. That'll do me. tbsmile

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 11:56:37

(But I hope I don't look like that when I eat it.)

Callistemon Fri 24-Jan-20 11:57:15

We've got whisky
And a tin of shortbread from Christmas.

Callistemon Fri 24-Jan-20 11:58:32

I knew I should have bought the steak pie from M&S and not the more healthy chicken.

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 11:58:55

tbshock How can you have not eaten shortbread from Christmas?! tbshock

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 11:59:27

Are you sure steak pie is Scottish? confused

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 11:59:37

tbgrin

Callistemon Fri 24-Jan-20 12:00:29

Because this is a second tin tbblush which I was going to give to the family but they are too health conscious.

Callistemon Fri 24-Jan-20 12:02:05

Yes, my Scottish friend assured me that steak pie was what they ate on New Year's Eve to soak up all the whisky.
She hated it.

Callistemon Fri 24-Jan-20 12:03:18

It could have been New Year's Day.

rosenoir Fri 24-Jan-20 12:21:18

This thread has nothing to do with the original post now.

I have been re watching Two Doors Down, they had steak pie New Years Day, said it was tradition.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 24-Jan-20 12:21:19

In my previous life with a National Charitable Organisation I was the only female at a Burns Night Supper.

After my short speech I cannot remember a thing? Apparently I kept up with the men in the Whisky drinking, I think I felt human about 48 hours later

SirChenjin Fri 24-Jan-20 13:00:45

Yep - always steak pie on New Years Day. I make mine from scratch and the DCs insist on there being Wee Willie Winky sausages in there too ( they’re the mini skinless ones)

Buffybee Fri 24-Jan-20 13:52:01

Love it when threads meander.
This started as a grump of a thread and now everyone is chatting about Steak Pie, Shortbread and Whisky! tbgrin

Callistemon Fri 24-Jan-20 14:17:46

Just to say that it was the whisky that my friend hated, not the steak pie.
She made a great steak pie.

Callistemon Fri 24-Jan-20 14:19:10

A question for the Scottish posters:

At a Burns Supper once someone advised me that a tot of whisky should be poured on to the haggis on your plate.
Is this true or fake news?

Oopsminty Fri 24-Jan-20 14:20:38

This started as a grump of a thread and now everyone is chatting about Steak Pie, Shortbread and Whisky

Far more interesting and entertaining it is too

Chestnut Fri 24-Jan-20 14:28:53

And a negative thread has been turned into a positive one.

SirChenjin Fri 24-Jan-20 14:54:17

I’ve not heard of that Callistemon but I think the rules are very flexible when it comes to whisky and Burns suppers grin

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 15:50:29

For years I cooked steak pie for New Year's Day dinner. I had no idea I was keeping up with a tradition! I must be psychic, or something. tbshock

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 15:52:07

" Wee Willie Winky sausages"

Ooh! tbgrin

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 15:54:56

(I have no idea why I find that funny) tbhmm

lucywinter Fri 24-Jan-20 15:55:16

Oh, yes I do!

GrannyLaine Fri 24-Jan-20 15:59:21

Much more interesting and relevant than the first part of the thread. I have a kind of yearning for Cranachan......... haven't given it a thought in years.

merlotgran Fri 24-Jan-20 16:25:57

DH is on a low fat diet so maybe I'll sprinkle some toasted oat flakes over his raspberry yoghurt. grin
