Are you a longtime lurker? Love reading our threads but have never actually posted yourself? Then this is the week for you!

Simply say hello here, or post on one of our special lurkers’ week threads (which will all be listed here over the course of the week) and you could win one of our special prizes just for joining the fun.

What are the prizes, you ask? WELL <drumroll> we have an assortment of glorious goodies, from a limited-edition collection from Look Fabulous Forever, to a £50 voucher from the gorgeous jewellery retailer Merci Maman, from brilliant board games from John Adams to champagne glasses from Prezzybox and a year's supply of ebooks from Boldwood Books - and more! (Did we mention the money-can’t-buy, limited-edition Gransnet tea towels?!)

Posting is quick and easy - but if you have any questions, head over to our handy ‘getting started’ guide. This week we will also be running tips on how to get the most out of the site - and if you can't yet tell your DIL from your SIL, here's a handy guide to Gransnet acronyms.

Regular posters, fear not...as if we would leave you out of the fun. Seasoned gransnetters who extend the hand of friendship to newbies will also have their names put in the hat, just for being lovely people.

So welcome all. Don't be shy! Do post!

Say hello. Tell us what you like about Gransnet and join our warm and wonderful community. Happy posting!

GNHQ

And if you enjoy the site but haven't yet joined (it's totally free), you can do so here.

Hi I enjoy reading the threads and have made a comment on a rare occasion

Authoress Mon 09-Mar-20 21:32:12

Semi-lurker here... I may read the 4 thread titles a day that the newsletter sends me, but the rest of the site is a Deep Mystery smile

Marydoll Mon 09-Mar-20 20:54:37

I feel I have to say this. For ages we had people complaining about too many active Games threads and asking how to hide them.
The site at the moment is being dominated by Lurker threads.

You have achieved what you set out to do GNHQ. Well done, a success! grin

I am a lurker. I have posted but can never see my post so think that they must fail. Some threads are fascinating. But some attract very negative posters. There is enough bad stuff going on. Surely Gransnet is allowed to have some good stuff going on ?

My favourite is my Tracksuit as it's nice to relax in and very snug and comfortable to wear.

CrazyGranny60 Mon 09-Mar-20 20:51:41

Lurker here. Have replied a couple of times but never posted. Too worried someone in my family will read it and guess who I am!

bridie54 Mon 09-Mar-20 20:45:51

Hello, I'm a lurker mostly. I always check out the days posts and did get some lovely and helpful responses to my first post. lol, it's the lure of the prize that got me this time :-)

Startingover61 Mon 09-Mar-20 20:40:38

I’m also a bit of a lurker, though I have posted a few times, usually in threads about relationships.

Chookmama Mon 09-Mar-20 20:24:00

My first single was Bird Dog by the Everly Brothers when I was 10 - heavily influenced by my elder brother, who I thought was very cool.

boo2410 Mon 09-Mar-20 20:06:44

I'm mostly a lurker from South Norfolk!! I do post now and again but not regularly, although I'm on here most days.

kelleensc Mon 09-Mar-20 19:50:56

I typically lurke because I live in the United States Central Time Zone (1 hour behind New York) and most of the activity on the conversations is over by the time I read them. I enjoy the conversations and am learning new ways to refer to everyday items. smile

But, hello everyone!

Chookmama Mon 09-Mar-20 19:40:45

I’m a regular lurker (most days). Tried to post once but I don’t think I did it right! Not actually a gran as neither DD or DS seem willing to produce offspring, but who knows maybe one day!

LuckyFour Mon 09-Mar-20 19:27:16

Welcome all new gransnet posters. I don't post as often as others but when I do it is to try to offer ideas or help to another gran. We all have ups and downs in our lives but to hear from someone who has gone through something similar and come out the other side can be very helpful. Gransnet grans are wonderful, always willing to give advice and it's easy to be completely honest on here so it's not necessary to beat around the bush.

I have posted once or twice before but have never mentioned myself. I live with my husband who has Primary progressive Multiple Sclerosis. He is paralysed but nature has left him the use of his left hand so he can use computer and tv controls. We hace a dog for the disabled. She is a blessing. Our first one was with my husband from early days and they have in their own way enhanced his life. We have two carers four times a day such a blessing as for many years I was his sole carer and worked as well. I still say we have a blessed life.

I love Gransnet, it's a place of useful information. Tips on anything. Fashion, Places to visit, Health, Family worries, clothing, and anything else that springs to mind also general hints and tips. It's like having a good friend to discuss anything with, far better than a magazine, it's something you can discuss that might be more sensitive or embarrasing but can discuss on Gransnet without embarrassment and can get answers.

Hi I'm a lurker, by the time I've read all the replies everything that I want to say has been said by someone else.

Bbbface Mon 09-Mar-20 18:38:30

Hi

Happy to welcome anyone and everyone!!

Ellie Anne Mon 09-Mar-20 18:35:24

I’ve posted a couple of times but have been put of by some harsh responses.
My first single was The first time by Adam Faith

Wheniwasyourage Mon 09-Mar-20 18:14:54

Welcome to all newbies and lurkers. Like others, I'm sure, I go through phases of lurking and regular posting, and have done so since joining at the beginning, back when we were all a lot younger than we are now grin

To add to what grannyactivist said, please be aware that we have all been through the experience of posting and getting no replies at all, so that we are convinced that we have killed the thread! Sometimes that thread will be resurrected months later, so don't give up hope!

Suki70 Mon 09-Mar-20 18:04:47

Another lurker here , although I have posted a few times, usually when someone has asked for advice about a health problem that I have experienced myself. However I have made a good friend through the forum and we set up local meetings of gransnetters.

Pinkypoo Mon 09-Mar-20 17:54:49

Hi, I’m a lurker, sorry to say! No grandkids yet but hopefully one day, son with mental health issues lives with us and also have two daughters. Love to read the posts and can tell some of the regulars are quite witty x

CherryCezzy Mon 09-Mar-20 17:52:53

I have lurked as a reader since the Summer of last year. I didn't discover the site until then. I started reading when I was having breast cancer treatment; clear at the moment grin. I didn't pluck up the courage to join until 3rd March. I have made several posts since then so I don't know whether I can be considered to be a lurker now ? I may just be a newbie.

Dannydog1 Mon 09-Mar-20 17:52:04

I’m a lurker as well, very , very occasionally posted

annsixty Mon 09-Mar-20 17:47:28

I, along with many others, have had so much help at times of extreme stress, so lurkers, join in and either help others or get help yourself.

nannyof4 Mon 09-Mar-20 17:47:14

I am also a lurker, although have posted a few times but prefer to read and not join in.
