Are you a longtime lurker? Love reading our threads but have never actually posted yourself? Then this is the week for you!

Simply say hello here, or post on one of our special lurkers’ week threads (which will all be listed here over the course of the week) and you could win one of our special prizes just for joining the fun.

What are the prizes, you ask? WELL <drumroll> we have an assortment of glorious goodies, from a limited-edition collection from Look Fabulous Forever, to a £50 voucher from the gorgeous jewellery retailer Merci Maman, from brilliant board games from John Adams to champagne glasses from Prezzybox and a year's supply of ebooks from Boldwood Books - and more! (Did we mention the money-can’t-buy, limited-edition Gransnet tea towels?!)

Posting is quick and easy - but if you have any questions, head over to our handy ‘getting started’ guide. This week we will also be running tips on how to get the most out of the site - and if you can't yet tell your DIL from your SIL, here's a handy guide to Gransnet acronyms.

Regular posters, fear not...as if we would leave you out of the fun. Seasoned gransnetters who extend the hand of friendship to newbies will also have their names put in the hat, just for being lovely people.

So welcome all. Don't be shy! Do post!

Say hello. Tell us what you like about Gransnet and join our warm and wonderful community. Happy posting!

Liz53 please start a new thread about your problem as it may get lost on this one.

I am a lurker but love the threads. I get the daily email and it helps me keep up to date with what people are thinking.

Hi, I'm a daily lurker since returning from living in Spain for ten years. So much good advice on here plus lots of giggles too! I love the community spirit but am rather shy in posting. Must do better!

Liz53 Mon 09-Mar-20 17:18:59

Does anyone have the same problem. My mother law expects to be picked up by my OH and to have a cooked tea every night. She complains if we choose to go away for for a few days. She has 3 other sons and DIL’s and is always praising them for what little they do.. now is the time my OH and I would like to have time to do things together(just to go for a ride without thinking we have to be back by a certain time would good

I’m a mainly a lurker with the occasional comment or competition entry. A really useful site with lots of commen sense.

joanie48 Mon 09-Mar-20 17:03:12

Hi all, I admit I am a lurker! I look at gransnet every day and it’s inspiring. Such common sense and good advice!

petalmoore Mon 09-Mar-20 16:59:35

@Marpau are your Dgs really dogs, as some have suggested, or small boys? Do tell!

(I mainly lurk, but do occasionally post, and have three grandchildren aged 7, 5 and 3, who have just moved to New Zealand. The eldest and youngest are boys and the middle one is a girl. We keep in touch via Portal TV using WhatsApp, since I’m disabled and can’t afford travel insurance I live in the Scottish Borders).

I am a daily lurker and love sitting down to Gransnet everyday when I get home from work around 4pm while I’m enjoying my afternoon cuppa. I joined when my first granddaughter was born over 6 years ago and now I have 3 granddaughters of 6, 3 and 18 months. I rarely post but I love the daily threads. Apart from my 2 adult sons and 1 daughter I am blessed with 2 amazing loving daughters in law who I love to bits. Looking forward to posting more on here

Oops forgot to add that I am a lurker ??

stillaspringchicken Mon 09-Mar-20 16:51:10

I'm a bit of a lurker, though I have commented on a couple of posts.
Confession time - I'm not a Gran at all (my kids are still in their student years) but I'm way too old for Mumsnet and find the posts here much more interesting!

brawlass Mon 09-Mar-20 16:37:43

I'm definitely a lurker, an old one, and have only posted a few times but will try to input more. Have two teenage grandchildren.

A great tool for communication - be bold and have a go. {smile}

Hi everyone. I have been lurking for a while and have never plucked up the courage to post. I have, however, enjoyed reading the postings of others, especially during some recent lengthy hospital stays which have helped to keep me sane
I retired last year and live in Wild West Wales with my DH. We have 14 grandchildren, ages range from 3 to 25.

Arto1s Mon 09-Mar-20 16:23:17

Although I have posted a few times I think I would be a lurker also! But I read Gransnet daily. As I live in the States I love hearing all the news and opinions from my home country.

DotMH1901 Mon 09-Mar-20 16:22:29

Hello to all the previously unknown lurkers ! Hope you feel you can post on the various threads now you have taken the first tentative dip into the Gransnet posters world smile

finemang Mon 09-Mar-20 16:14:26

hi thdere,
I don't often post as life is too busy!! but still enjoy reading other people's posts!

spookygran Mon 09-Mar-20 16:13:18

I am a lurker,I read every day but have never posted a topic or a question.I just find it interesting reading others opinions whether I agree or not.Not sure what my topic would be but i'll have a think about it and come up with something.

CrazyGrandma2 Mon 09-Mar-20 16:12:06

Is there a particular reason why GN doesn't allow any reaction to a specific post without having to write a comment? At least then you know that someone has read your post.

Grannyparkrun Mon 09-Mar-20 16:11:50

I lurk a lot but have posted sometimes. Always impressed by the common sense advise posters give, and the humour too!
My first single was ‘Light up the Fire’ by Parchment as I was a very devout, overly earnest Christian teenager, and only Christian music was allowed in our house. But secretly I yearned for a bit of David Essex!

tattyslippers Mon 09-Mar-20 16:04:44

Glad to know that I am not a lone lurker!
Retiring soon so will have time to post and join in (no more excuses!)
Happy to be part of the Gransnet Gang x

Molly10 Mon 09-Mar-20 16:04:39

Welcome all lurkers and semi lurkers. Good to hear you all from near and afar. Enjoy!

angie95 Mon 09-Mar-20 16:04:09

What I like best about Gransnet is feeling welcomed, chatting to people who don't cast judgement X it's lovely and as I'm disabled ,I don't go out much it's perfect xx

angie95 Mon 09-Mar-20 16:01:24

The first single I bought was Sugar Sugar by the Archie's

Merryweather Mon 09-Mar-20 16:00:29

Long time lurker, but I've replied to a few posts.
I'm a mom of two girls and a boy due any day now!
We have pet cats and indoor bunnies who enjoy the garden when it's dry.
I enjoy the threads on gransnet better than those on mumsnet.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 09-Mar-20 15:58:13

Our last lurkers' week special thread of the day (panic not, lots more tomorrow!) is asking do you like best about Gransnet?
