Hello, GNHQ here, (waving a white flag).
We need your help. As many of you have probably noticed the conversations over the past few days have been increasingly tense. The questions posed have been so interesting and worthy of debate but so often the conversations have derailed and turned into personal attacks (the veiled ones can be particularly unkind). We hate deleting threads when people have taken time and effort to contribute and it must be equally wearing for you all to wade through mean-spirited posts. We'd really like to get back to conversations that include debate/disagreement but that also show a bit of respect and consideration for other posters even if you disagree with them.

Obviously, it has a strong Aussie flavour (like me for instance!), which naturally is of no interest to some members, but we like to think of it acting as a conduit for the exchange of news in these troubled times and of course it's free and open to all.

Aldom please do not confuse the boisterousness of the political threads with other threads. Many on here will testify that they have received much kindness and a great deal of help during their darkest hours. The political threads are not for the faint hearted, but some of us do enjoy robust debate and are also capable of empathy and kindness on other matters. Please stay and join us, and I am so sorry to read of the loss of your son.

Interestingly, everytime I make a comment about Trump it gets deleted, while anyone can say anything they like about Meghan Markle. Why are GNHQ scared of Trump? Has he got a blanket ban on social media comments, threatening legal action?
I wonder if they'll delete THIS comment?
Good grief GagaJo; if posts about his Trumpiness are going to get deleted, they'll have to have someone poised with their finger over the delete button for a very long time! I've not seen a supporter for him ever!
