Troll hunting and thread deletions

Hello
We wanted to clear a few things up:
1) We don't allow troll hunting on the forums. If you are worried someone may not be genuine, please email us directly or report any concerning posts to us. We will deal with it. Making accusations on the forums is not helpful and could, if incorrect, lead to possibly vulnerable people feeling victimised. We will have to delete threads that accuse other users of being trolls.
2) PMs. We take a very dim view of this being abused. If you receive an unwanted or unkind PM please report it to us. We can take a look and deal with it. You are also able to block other users so that they are no longer able to PM you. Please use this. And apologies in advance if this does happen to you. It's not nice and not what Gransnet is about at all.
3) Despite what it feels like tonight hmm we do not enjoy deleting threads. We have a handful of guidelines, all there with the purpose of making the threads better, and more welcoming for users. We are doing our best and rely on you to report things to us that seem concerning, so thank you for caring so much about the site and reporting anything that looks suspicious.

Thank you
GNHQ

By the way, Natasha, do you have any Nosecco? I'm not allowed alcohol! ?

Callistemon Fri 21-Aug-20 17:48:51

kittylester just for you:

Across The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R. Tolkien began sentences with these seven (potential) conjunctions the indicated number of times each, sorted in descending order of frequency:

2,871 But
1,972 And
731 For
358 So
273 Yet
78 Or
37 Nor
---
6,320 all

As did many other writers.

And several poets ?

Very true, Marydoll

NatashaGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 21-Aug-20 18:01:49

Marydoll just to reassure you, if we discover a user isn't who they say they are, we do take action. smile

And yes - I will also put in a request for Nosecco winkwine

phoenix Fri 21-Aug-20 18:05:44

But Natasha Gransnet exactly how do you discover that members/users aren't legitimate?

As mentioned previously, I expressed doubts, was told all was ok, then look what happened!

Kalu Fri 21-Aug-20 18:10:40

Oh, as it is time for drinks orders, a Chablis for me please, OK make it a large one in fact, as it is virtual and free, just leave the bottle. Hic. ?

downtoearth Fri 21-Aug-20 18:21:38

Mine is a cheeky Riesling please

Marydoll Fri 21-Aug-20 18:23:48

Thank you Natasha. I would prefer a dry Italian white, but it's a No, no .?

Callistemon Fri 21-Aug-20 18:24:51

a Chablis for me please

Is it Christmas?

Callistemon Fri 21-Aug-20 18:26:04

[sigh]
I'll just have to go and pour my own, then

BlueBelle Fri 21-Aug-20 18:28:46

Just a cider for me please I live the fruity ones

BlueBelle Fri 21-Aug-20 18:29:37

No I don’t live the fruity ones I love the fruity ones
Oh for an edit button sigh sigh

Pantglas2 Fri 21-Aug-20 18:35:34

Did I hear the drinks order being taken?? a glass of Moët would be most welcome.....??oh go on then, I’ll hold the bottle while everyone gets served....?

phoenix Fri 21-Aug-20 18:37:12

I'll stick to the Cava, if you don't mind. Love a bit of fizz!

About £5.29 in Lidl, and quite palatable!

Doodle Fri 21-Aug-20 18:40:52

Lucca I too have had a post deleted as I too was implying a previous poster was being disingenuous. Haven’t a clue what they mean.

phoenix Fri 21-Aug-20 18:41:16

Of course, Pantglas2 champagne is better, but was never a great can of Moet, nor Lanson for that matter. Best I've had recently was Waitrose Vintage, really rather good!

Not over keen on Bolly either............

phoenix Fri 21-Aug-20 18:42:57

Doodle if that up there ^^ is what they said, they can't spell!

Doodle Fri 21-Aug-20 18:46:05

This is silly. If there is a poster called Sav Blanc would callistemon have her post deleted as she was being disingenuous to another poster? If I mention I’ve been to Leicester for a weekend does that mean I am being disingenuous to Kitty. Makes no sense to me at all.

Lisagran Fri 21-Aug-20 18:47:47

Marydoll - did you know that M and S have started selling a non alcoholic G and T in a tin? As a non alcoholic drinker myself (heart issues) I tried it - bit sweet for me, but you might like it if you like Prosecco..... wine

X. (grin)

phoenix Fri 21-Aug-20 18:50:49

Oh dear, confused of North Devon.

Doodle Fri 21-Aug-20 18:51:04

Disingenuous was the word used phoenix. To be honest I had to look it up. I couldn’t think what on Earth I had said that would bring that response but obviously Lucca did it too.

I have already had a glass of Chablis but am not adverse to another thank you ?

Squiffy Fri 21-Aug-20 18:52:56

I feel that, with a username like mine, I should be putting my order in, too, but I hardly ever drink alcohol! Oh the irony! ??

I’ll have a double mango juice and soda, please!

At least I’ll be sober enough to run the Squiffy / Italicised Monkey! ?

Marydoll Fri 21-Aug-20 18:55:04

Thanks Lisa! When I was shielding my neighbour was in Lidl, picking up some things for me.
She came back with a bottle of non alcoholic gin! You actually can't tell the difference and neither could my daughter, who claims to be a gin expert!
I had it with bitter lemon, ice and a slice of lemon. It tasted like the real thing. smile

The same neighbour left a bottle of Asda's Nosecco in my hotel room at her son's wedding. That's what I toasted my daughter with, last week at her wedding in our garden. Cheers everyone! ?

Lucca Fri 21-Aug-20 18:55:59

Am I allowed out of the naughty corner for a swift Pinot Grigio ?

Marydoll Fri 21-Aug-20 18:57:52

Lucca, if you stay silent, you should be OK. ??
