I think one of the papers have given a date for the trial until then I do not want to hear about it. Once the trial begins and finishes then all will be revealed.

Vegansrock - the law on contempt of court applies to everyone, including social media sites. The link suziewoozie has provided makes this abundantly clear. I'm often horrified by some of the things people post (not necessarily on here) in regards to live court cases, which could jeopardise an entire trial. It's ironic that in cases where the mobs are baying for 'justice', that some of the things they are posting could actually endanger a trial and lead to that justice not in fact being served.

Hi everyone - please do be wary of contempt of court and speculating on the forums. If you do see anything that you're unsure of or concerned about with relation to this please do report it to us and we'll take a look as soon as possible. flowers

Read this . I wasn’t making up the issue.

I think broadcast media , print journalism and the like are forbidden by law from discussing cases where someone has been arrested or on trial. It doesn’t extend to chats over the garden fence, at the bus stop or on Twitter. Maybe it should by the law was enacted before the advent of social media. I doubt if GN could be prosecuted for any sort of contempt of court, though a lawyer could advise.

If you think the speculation about this case will not be all over the internet then you must be the most naive person on the planet. Don't you know every Tom Dick and Harry knows exactly what has happened, and exactly who to blame?

How incredibly mean spirited this post is and quite the personal attack. Lovely. Thank you SO much for reminding me about the internet - I’d quite forgotten. But there you go, I’m the most naive person on the planet.- I wonder who’s the most unnecessarily rude on GN?

A timely reminder for all of us sw thank you. I hope GNHQ can somehow highlight and reinforce your concerns.

I agree suziewoozie, initially, thinking the forthcoming trial was about to be discussed, I was concerned!
There will indeed be posters who are probably not aware what the term sub judice means.

Else why did I start the thread ?

suziewoozie Sun 14-Mar-21 22:13:57

Sadly not

I think most will know that it's not the done thing to discuss live cases ?

suziewoozie Sun 14-Mar-21 20:48:59

I don’t know where to put this, so here will do. We should not now be discussing aspects of this case other than (if we really must ) repeating hard facts which has been revealed by the Met or in court proceedings. There should be no speculation about what happened or why or any theories put forward. If HQ see this, I’d be grateful for their input and guidance.
