How do I bump up threads as they are showing

Just had at look at the Active list.

I always thought it went in chronological order. It is at the moment except for two threads: Royal Chat and the one about Diana's statue.

Well, it matters if I am replying to a query and my answer doesn’t appear. It was buried at the bottom of Active, and then it disappears.

If I post at say 9am, I don’t expect it to be behind posts 2 hours previously.

And my I pad updates very quickly

That’s why it matters, silly as it may seem.

I’m not sure what you all mean by ‘the correct order’. A number of things will affect how the lists appear on your individual device. For example, how often your cache updates, how often the Gransnet server updates, how fast your internet connection is.

Why does it matter so much?

I posted something on the Royal thread this morning, another poster asked me about this, I posted a reply.

It never appeared in order, and when it was at the bottom of Active, I tried to bump it.

Still nowhere near the top, I expect it’s disappeared now.

Think no one likes me.

What are bumps?

they're like mumps but without the spots.
someone has had them deleted in case they are catching.

It has come up in the last hour list at 20.19 but not on the last hour list as there is already a message timed at 20.20.

What madness is going on here? I've just typed out a post, tried to upload it but got ERROR 504 and the post was lost. When I tried again, the lost post had reappeared and had uploaded but the replacement post has vanished. This is messing with me 'ead.

Apparently my two bumps were filling up the thread??? and annoying other posters. Come on own up who reported me?

The thread wasn’t showing in active because I’d hidden it.

This gets more bizarre by the minute as I haven’t a clue how to hide anything.

My theory is that they are weighting some topics. Fine, but just tell us. Otherwise I think there may some evasive action needed.

That is beyond ridiculous!
If threads appeared in the order they were posted on, most recent first, there would be no need for “bumps” but to suggest TWO “bumps” were filling up a thread and annoying other posters, is totally ridiculous.
PS I didn’t know one can hide threads - that’s weird- aren’t they open to all?

Threads have been in the wrong order all weekend so something is afoot.

Because they could not find the issue in the normal way for some reason.

I bumped my posts because the system wasn’t registering them correctly. Or perhaps they were but GN haven’t owned up to tweaking the system?
