‘‘Ow do, ah cocker!’ smile

JaneJudge Thu 05-Aug-21 12:24:50

Cock, love and bab in West Midlands I don't think you get away with cock anywhere else grin especially our cock

My Scottish granny always called me Hen. I was always a bit confused until I realised that it was a term of affection. Miss hearing it now.

MawBe Thu 05-Aug-21 10:51:54

“Hen” is from my part of Scotland.

Callistemon Thu 05-Aug-21 10:27:50

Duck is Potteries and south of there too, Cannock and surrounding areas.

I thought Chick was my Mum's special name for me but it's just a popular term in that area! ?

FannyCornforth Thu 05-Aug-21 10:22:18

‘Duck’ is East Midlands (where I am now)
‘Chick’ is West Midlands (where I originate from)

I’m so glad to find that we are back in the safe territory of farmyard birds!

Wow
Really good twizzies.

MissAdventure Wed 04-Aug-21 22:52:57

That was spellbinding!
Thank you.

BlueBelle

So glad others like it I ve always liked the song but completely love Disturbed’s version of it
And like you MissA his voice really gets to me

BlueBelle I first heard this as the backing music to a stunning ice dance by Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres in Tokyo 2017. I never tire of watching it

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 22:35:31

That's lovely, chick!

MissAdventure Wed 04-Aug-21 22:32:21

It seems we are. smile
My exes daughter used to call me "hen".
Oh, I loved it!

Sally12 Wed 04-Aug-21 22:28:37

Are we back to ducks and chickens?!

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 22:26:59

Any road up took me back .....
Duck is Midlands too

MissAdventure Wed 04-Aug-21 22:24:03

One of my nans used to say "duck", but I don't know if she was of Midlands heritage.

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 22:18:56

Any road up

Have you got a bit lost, me duck?
That sounds rather like Midlands-speak!

MissAdventure Wed 04-Aug-21 22:14:15

I think I went a bit Barry Norman there. smile
Any road up, I wonder what Elderly Person will think of the song? (My predictive text wrote Elderly Parson)

Jaxjacky Wed 04-Aug-21 22:13:40

BlueBelle put as eloquently as I could have done ?

BlueBelle Wed 04-Aug-21 22:07:25

How well put missA I think my explanation of ‘coooorrrr’ was not so poetic as yours

MissAdventure Wed 04-Aug-21 21:51:06

Ooh yes.
The whole experience is like being caressed with the tip of an exquisitely sharp blade, wrapped in the softest velvet.

BlueBelle Wed 04-Aug-21 21:44:32

Yes that’s clever MissA answered your own question not only a wonderful voice but very intriguing eye contact

MissAdventure Wed 04-Aug-21 21:38:13

David Draimen.

MissAdventure Wed 04-Aug-21 21:27:43

It gives me tingles, his voice.
Apparently, after hearing it, Paul Simon said that it now rightfully belongs to whatever his name is.
What is his name? smile

BlueBelle Wed 04-Aug-21 21:24:50

So glad others like it I ve always liked the song but completely love Disturbed’s version of it
And like you MissA his voice really gets to me

Jaxjacky Wed 04-Aug-21 21:09:48

Like a lot BlueBelle thank you, I’d forgotten.
