Hi all

We think that it'd be good for us to get to know each other a bit more.

We at GNHQ are here to moderate the site, look after our users and ensure that Gransnet is an inclusive and supportive community. We're post-moderated, which means that we rely on reports to let us know what's going on. Our aim is to respond to every query we receive, so please don't be afraid to get in touch.

We're also keen to listen to feedback about site functionality, so tell us what you think - we'll always pass feedback on to the relevant team(s) for discussion, with the promise of making Gransnet better and more efficient for all users. If you've got any ideas for improvement then please share them below. Changes at the back end of the site do take time, but we're more than happy to keep you updated during the process.

Please feel free to introduce yourselves by replying below (or send us a hello privately via email/report if you prefer).

P.S Every time you hit the report button, an angel gets its wings (or a troll gets booted off site). <repeatedly clicks report button>

Thank you LilyGN

Hello!

We haven't an update yet but it's being discussed (and was flagged that morning, promise).

We're still talking with Iam64 and very much doing our best to get them posting again. The technical issues experienced by this user are unusual and quite complicated.

When one user on a large site is experiencing issues, it can be extremely hard to replicate. Replication is usually how we're able to diagnose a fix, so it is taking time. We made a little bit of progress but then the issue re appeared so we're just looking into that.

It would be good if we had an update on when Iam64 will be able to post, though.

Indeed it would Doodledog but GNHQ seems to be incommunicado lately. hmm

Hi Chewbacca
I’ve been pondering this.
I wonder if GN are reluctant to create a Feminism / Women’s Rights sub-forum because it might attract unwelcome attention from TRAs, like the MN Feminist sub-forum did / does.

I think you could be right. To be honest, it's an uphill struggle as it is, without that.

It would be good if we had an update on when Iam64 will be able to post, though.

Well, it looks like we'll never know because LiliGransnet never did come back to us first thing tomorrow morning did she!

To be honest I think they would be completely insane to create another one. I say this as a poster on the MN board and someone who has asked for a gn feminist board. I imagine that when Monday morning arrived the response was you promised them what?, that's the last time you are are left alone at the weekend grin

LilyGransnet whilst were grateful for your assurances that out requests are being taken seriously and being passed on to decelopers but may take some time to implement, please can I draw your attention to a request that was made over a year ago and has still not seen fruition? Iam64 and several others, asked for a Feminism chat section, just like the one on Mumsnet. We were assured that it could be done but, a year later, and no sign of it. Please don't assume that just because the majority of us here are grey haired and retired, that we don't want to discuss feminist issues in a designated space. Can we have that space or not please?

This will be chased up first thing tomorrow morning - will keep you updated.

LilyGransnet please could you give an update on this?

Not been on Gransnet long but I also find it hard to follow the OP's messages. All posts are white.
Think if I got a lot of ' dislikes' I'd be off! Not keen.

No, Meryl, I think you must be getting a little confused in your old age.
I'm sure that hasn't been happening. smile

I agree with DanniRae about lack of competitions and also the monthly book giveaway which is missed by many. Hope the publishers will start this up again. I have been lucky enough to receive a few books over the years and started an arrangement with another GNetter that if one of us received the book and the other missed out, we sent the book to the unlucky one. It worked well.

Oh shit!!! Not another memory fail??‍♀️
I’ll stick to knitting shreddies ?

FannyCornforth Sun 15-Aug-21 19:43:18

DanniRae It’s all to do with companies’ advertising budgets, nothing to do with GN or even MN.
Everyone is skint these days, so no freebies / prizes

DanniRae Sun 15-Aug-21 19:37:44

Sorry if this has already been mentioned because I haven't read all of the thread........Why have we hardly got any competitions for us to enter? I am not interested in going onto MN to get involved in theirs. I used to love entering GN competitions and even won one........A lovely hamper!
Explanation please smile

Meryl I am relatively new here, but I am already aware of the tradition

I could have sworn I’ve read these same reply’s from HQ many times over the years ?

Who is this Iam64 of whom you speak doodle?

She's the one who's been doing the midnight dancing. It was on the news last night. I've phoned her solicitor and he's going to see if she can have internet access in her cell, but it will add to Iam's bill, so she wants to be sure she will be able to post on here before she signs for it.

FannyCornforth Sun 15-Aug-21 14:30:08

Will you be looking at Iam64s problem too, please Lily?

Hope so Mollygo I wouldn't like to think that anyone really does have someone like that in their family. smile

Well, one thing we do know about Curlysue is that she has a weird SIL that snoops on her phone and stalks her on social media, poor woman. I hope she closes her registration on GN down and re registers under a different name. Look out for a thread entitled "My SIL is a nosey control freak, what should I do?"

Except that the OP was called Curlygirl, which was what made me query it in the first place. Just seemed a chance for somebody to be nasty, but it could’ve been real.

Callistemon Sun 15-Aug-21 12:06:36

Indeed Doodledog. Iam64 has been locked out for far too long, we need her back asap.

I agree.

We miss her sensible, balanced views.
