Don’t know if many of you will have looked at Mumsnet today. They’ve changed their logo because of the coronation. I’m anything but a Royalist but think it’s extremely juvenile and disrespectful. Several threads have been started about it, the majority feel as I do.

You dont have to answer that. But you can if you want to.

Guilty laugh

So you were a bully at school?

Callistemon21 Sat 06-May-23 12:39:58

I can't agree with those who think it's in the slightest bit funny.

Mocking someone's physical imperfections is wrong.
DH suffered years of torment at school and even into adulthood because his are similar.

Grow up.

Wow very surprised at your reaction VS considering how you lecture everyone on kindness and inclusion

You're surprised?

Ridiculing someone’s features on what is probably the most important day of their life is neither funny or clever.

I agree with Baggs and Andrew Doyle. The role of comedy is to poke fun at those in power, trying to control what people laugh at is like trying to control the tide.

Laughing at someone's appearance is what playground bullies do.

Galaxy Sat 06-May-23 13:26:21

Trying to control what people laugh at is what controlling people do.

Callistemon21 Sat 06-May-23 13:29:48

It's bullying. It's cruel.

If you're absolutely perfect in every way you would have no idea of the misery it can cause.

Mocking someone's actions is different to mocking someone's appearance.

Mollygo Sat 06-May-23 13:30:36

It isn’t funny. Bullies use that sort of comment/picture all the time and justify themselves by saying it’s only a joke/picture/meme.
I wasn’t surprised BlueBelle.

Galaxy Sat 06-May-23 13:33:03

It's happened to me on a number of occasions. It upsets me less than people trying to control what I may or may not find funny.
I have thought for a while that we read/listen to similar people Baggs.

I'm sorry if your physical imperfections have caused others amusement, if so, I'd have thought you'd have more understanding.

We are supposed to be adults.

Beyond distasteful, disrespectful and bullyingangry.

As you say Mollygo it's only a joke is how bullies justify their behaviour and I find it strange that MN should do such a thing when I think of the number of H & M threads here on GN that have been deleted confused.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 13:53:34

Im surprised at it honestly, it caught me off guard

But yes, I am in fact a terrible person

GagaJo Sat 06-May-23 13:55:48

He's one of the most powerful men in England. Or the UK come to that. He won't give a flying F what Mumsnet thinks of him. Or us come to that.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 13:58:52

I'm guessing it's been taken down as can't see it on mumsnet

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 13:59:45

It’s just childish.

Smileless2012 Sat 06-May-23 14:03:06

How do you know GagaJo? No one's immune to being hurt by the insensitivity or cruelty of others, even Kings.

Yiu don't know that.

Do you think he even knows that Mumsnet exists? I bet he doesn’t and isn’t interested in it at all.

I bet he does!

Smileless2012 Sat 06-May-23 14:09:15

Does it matter maddy? Is 'getting a laugh' at someone else's expense especially due to a physical characteristic OK, as long as the one being laughed at doesn't know about it?

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 14:09:58

Well he might, though I doubt the topics would interest him. Today however, Mumsnet will not have been on his mind.

maddyone Sat 06-May-23 14:11:13

Maybe he reads Gransnet and contributes on the gardening forum grin
