Had to enlarge the logo to check what it consisted of.

Making fun of the King’s ears.

I rarely look at Mumsnet, as I think it’s juvenile and bitchy, this logo proves it.

Pathetic. How old are they, 13 ? Actually, my 13 year old grandchildren would be more mature than that.

Many of the posters on the MN thread would seem to agree.

But one poster did ask whether MNers would prefer something ‘servile’ instead. So I suppose it’s impossible to explain to anyone like that, that even an ardent republican could find it in very poor taste.

I think the outrage on here and MN is silly. It's just a bit of piss-taking about the most pompous day of the year so far.

Disclaimer: I actually think the Coronation is an important day in the UK and Charles's sticky-out ears have always been commented upon, as have those of my middle brother. It's not that big a deal.

At least they didn’t include his sausage fingers.

I m not a royalist and not bothering to watch the coronation but that is horrible and disrespectful and I m very surprised that anyone would consider that funny

I don't think it's disrespectful. I would even argue that it could be seen as quite affectionate. That's how I saw it.

And if people want to be appalled/horrified by something so insignificant, fine. But that does strike me as fuddy-duddy-old-fogeyish and what Andrew Doyle calls new puritanism.

I m far far from a fuddy duddy or an old fogey Baggs ( Keep going, cant you find some more) but I don’t like people making fun of others especially if they have a physical difference. Perhaps you hark back to the old days of four eyes cripple, spaz personally I thought we d moved on with respect of others, but obviously you’re still stuck in the old days

But the whole point of cartoon-like comments, which is how I'd class this logo, is that they exaggerate physical characteristics.

Essentially this thread is anti-cartoon. Which, by Andrew Doyle's definition would count as puritanical in the modern sense.

It is certainly sad that Charles was bullied at school but I doubt that was all about his ears – more about his privilege, I suspect (which does not excuse it) – and, anyway, now he's the king. I expect he's pretty resilient about ears now.

Merely commenting on or using a well-known characteristic as MNHQ have in this instance is not automatically bullying or nasty.

King Charles is not a victim and this cartoon has not made him one. It is not "punching down".

It's not offensive. Not sure why anyone would want to be offended over it.
