Temporary Mumsnet logo -not at all funny!

Don’t know if many of you will have looked at Mumsnet today. They’ve changed their logo because of the coronation. I’m anything but a Royalist but think it’s extremely juvenile and disrespectful. Several threads have been started about it, the majority feel as I do.

I hope King Charles doesn't take life too seriously and would happily have a caricature done

I have lots of worst features but I can laugh at myself

It's really what is on the inside that counts

Baggs Sat 06-May-23 20:12:14

You did not say your personal worst feature Baggs.

Um..... I'll have to consult my daughters about that. Just asked Minibaggs and she said What? and looked puzzled.
I suppose it might be my nose but I've never wanted to change it. Or my eyebrows which are definitely unfashionable but they remind me of my dad so I love them....
It could even be my ears which are not level with each other. I daresay a cartoonist would pick up on this sort of stuff. I'd be flattered to be thought worthy of being cartoonified.

But who said his ears were Charles's worst feature? Most obvious or most recognisable perhaps but nothing more than that.

Big issue not.

Too many high horses around here.

I think he does take life seriously where it matters. I doubt he's bothered about tried and tested caricatures of himself. Why would he be? They don't change anything about him or anything that matters.

I do wish everyone had been there for Megan and Harry when they were having all the jokes made about them in the press

Maybe there wouldn't be a broken family here

Did you see it Baggs? A rather large feathery hat obscured Harry in the crowd

Guilty laugh

So you are only kind when it suits you. It makes you sound a right hypocrite.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 20:46:35

we are well past my surprised laugh rafichagran

Let's move on shall we

One persons shocked laughing is not bullying but several personal comments are

Sorry, but you are always accusing others of bullying and you do it yourself, you have been caught out.
Now we can move on.

Lol!

Ok sure, whatever you need

Quite. Be kind wasn't exactly the motto there, was it? It was more, stick the knife in as far as possible. Including many of those on here defending the poor defenseless King.

I don't need anything. You have the problem, if anyone disagrees with you, you always think its bullying.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 21:33:23

I think bullying is bullying

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 21:37:35

Gagajo some of the conversations about them are horrific really

The gransnet monarchy are not to be challenged though lol

fancythat Sat 06-May-23 21:41:12

Baggs - nose
VS - lots of features.
How far before it all gets to bullying?
Unasked for caricuture perhaps.

Or too personal already?

I will stop now.
MN didnt.

The hat was The Princess Royals ceremonial headwear.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 21:45:22

I'm a terrible terrible human

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 21:49:38

Seriously though

I would never have made that logo and I would never have agreed to it being used, I might have laughed and felt bad because I was suprised but that's it.

Maybe send a strongly worded email to the manager of gransnet or something instead of taking it out on me

Much better.

fwiw, I post occasionally over there. Maybe posted 6 times since new year.

I did post today over there because I did not feel I could let what they had done pass.
So added my post to a long thread over there. Even though there had been countless posts before mine.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 21:59:43

I've actually said that all along

But the gransnet monarchs do not like me

Which I am glad for

Galaxy Sat 06-May-23 22:03:41

I think there is a difference between disliking, even criticising, someone's actions and mocking them for perceived physical abnormalities.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 22:28:36

Yes we can quite see that apparently some feel attacking someone as a person is fine but not their physical appearance

In what way that makes any logical sense I have no idea

Of course it is logical.
Quite why it would not be is a surprising notion.

We are responsible for our words, our actions, but not for any physical abnormalities or differences from what is perceived to be the norm.

Callistemon21 Sat 06-May-23 22:33:34

Their actions and words, not the person.

Anyway, I'll leave you to it.

VioletSky Sat 06-May-23 22:34:29

Personal animosity is a huge factor

If someone has a personal dislike for you they take things far too far and come after you on a deeply personal level

I've seen so many nasty jokes about Harry and Meghan it is unreal

But people get caught up in their own self importance and forget they are talking about real people

BlueBelle Sat 06-May-23 22:38:43

But making fun of someone’s imperfections isn’t the same as freedom of speech
‘I see it as focussing on what is easily recognised’ so that’s fine then Baggs we ll call someone who loses their leg in a battle Pegleg and draw a picture of them hopping …. great !!!
