On an iPad scroll as far down as you can, it says switch to mobile site, or in the address bar on the browser touch the AA at the beginning, it will bring a drop-down with request mobile site listed.

Please can anyone tell me how one can switch between the mobile site and the desktop site. My iPad sometimes does it when I am not looking but I can't see a way to do it myself??

(The OP wasn’t green on Desktop view, but is green on Mobile view)

I'm one of the ones who has campaigned for this feature. It is so annoying to read threads where the OP has offered more information or found a solution to her problem but everyone else just ploughs on replying to the first post regardless.

I have never seen a green OP post further down the thread, neither logged on, logged off, mobile or desk top view. Can someone post a screenshot please?

I used to have all of the original posters, comments, highlighted, and then one day I switched from mobile site to desktop site on my phone. All of a sudden the future no longer worked.

Quite a few posters asked me if I had been using another website or if I was in fact, having too many glasses of wine lol I’m glad to see other posters have now had that exact same experience, or that they are at least having highlights all the way through a thread.

They do it on mumsnet.

Strangely, the OP’s post are all highlighted when I use gransnet on my mobile phone.
There are still lots of adverts but their appearance doesn’t make the screen jump about, which used to drive me bananas!

I've figured out that if not logged in and on the mobile site, all OP's posts are highlighted. I use Gransnet on both Samsung tablet (desktop view) and phone ( mobile view). Yesterday I logged out on phone, so I could easily see all OP's posts on a thread I was interested in. It doesn't work like that on tablet. Normally I stay permanently logged in.

Thank you, that makes sense about the advertising throughout the thread.

I came over from Mumsnet when I became a grandmother and am so used to all the OP's posts being highlighted on there that I think I have just become a bit lazy as they didn't have that function for the first ten years I was on there and I managed just fine!

I began to doubt myself and checked other threads to be sure. I see all of the OP’s posts shaded in green. I’m on a 3 year old iPhone.

It’s got nothing to do with the phone you’re using.
If you’re on the mobile site the OPs are highlighted.

I'm fairly sure that, when I first used GN (about 8 years ago?) all the OP's posts were highlighted like that. Then it just stopped without any explanation.

Theexwife Fri 04-Aug-23 18:27:45

I think it could be because GN is a business that relies on advertising revenue, the longer you are trawling through a post the more adverts you will see, if the OPs comments were highlighted you may skip the thread and just read those, shortening the time you are on that thread.

Hi GNMQ,

I know it has been asked before in the past but please could we now have all the OP's posts highlighted in colour rather just the first one? It would make such a difference to the pleasure of using the site.

If the answer is no would you mind explaining why it is not possible?
