Hello, everyone.

As we approach the end of the year, we at GNHQ are thinking about what we can do to improve the site for everyone in 2024. Simply put - we think we need a makeover!

What we’d really like to know is does Gransnet hit the spot, or is there something you're itching for. What features do you love, (or not) and is there a gap we need to fill? We’d also like to know if you think Gransnet reflects who you are and if not, how can we make it more ‘you’?

If you were in charge at GNHQ for the day, what changes would you make? Anything from the layout or the topics to even the name Gransnet (AI suggested ‘nananook.com' grin) - we want to hear it.

Your opinions matter to us and we’re all ears.

Thanks,
GNHQ

Totally agree with changing the swimming picture on the home page. It's been there for as long as I can remember.

We also used to have Christmas themed 'Smileys' - no such luck now! sad

So we did, danni, I'd forgotten those

Why do certain topics never reach the Active list? Probably been mentioned already.

I posted on an old tv thread about ‘Vigil’s’ return, as I saw no point in starting a new one. Only received one comment from BlueBelle, and she must have picked it up from ‘last hour’ or ‘last day’.

Have stuck another comment on this morning, no, not on Active.

Often seems to happen with tv forum, why? It’s often the most looked at one.

🤷‍♀️

I found the original Vigil post on the TV thread. Only 4 down from the top. It has 208 posts.

A. Like Button..

A ...short term edit button.. usual time is 15 minutes

No to a Dislike button

No to a name change
No to a dislike button.
A edit button would be useful.
Also being able to read all OP replies like Mumsnet.

Indeed we did. And wasn't there a roast chicken imoji that had a particular meaning but I can't remember what it was.

They're still there but the short it isn't showing. Eg. for tchwink just type tchwink in square brackets

I don’t understand why Gransnet can’t have the same features as Mumsnet. Mumsnet is far from perfect but it’s got to be better than the current Gransnet that is very very basic.

Happy New Year GNHQ

Gransnet in 2024 - have your say!
Quite a lot has been said and I don't know about anyone else but I would really appreciate if GNHQ made an effort to interact with us a bit more and perhaps really consider some of the suggestions made on this thread. Some of the requests have been asked for in the past so some actual action would be good, after all you did ask!

Not much to add to what has already been said except please change that flippin’ family swimming photo. I am fed up with seeing it whenever I log in!

It happens every year. GN throw the ball onto the pitch asking for ideas. Everyone kicks it about with enthusiasm. Then it gets left in the rain and forgotten. There will be no more blue posts in this thread. No one is watching it. If we're lucky, in December we'll get another chance.

The thread was started on 4 Dec. A follow-up on 5 Dec picked up on a fairly insignificant point. GN have done their bit.

The only way we will get a reaction is if someone reports this post as defaming GN. But they will have a job to prove me wrong.

We will just have to out up with what we have. The things we have asked for would be nice to have, but we will just have to continue talking amongst ourselves.

Well, GNHQ did not go to the bother of replacing the swimming picture with a seasonal one over Christmas so I doubt that any of our recommendations will be considered.

I did ask ☹

I notice than GN has started posting on Facebook again.
The logo picture looks very dated and is in the wrong proportions when viewing on a mobile device.
Is no money being spent on the site at all?

Pittcity Sun 07-Jan-24 07:55:55

This thread is not showing on ACTIVE for me.

Pittcity Sun 07-Jan-24 07:56:24

It is now.....strange??

Pittcity Sun 07-Jan-24 07:59:08

There seems to be a time lag when posting. Same thing happens with uploading photos, which causes duplication.
A short edit window would help make the site much tidier.
Please, please, please.

DanniRae Sun 07-Jan-24 08:00:34

If any one from GNHQ is reading this please let us know if any of our requests are going to happen??
YES or NO
Thank you hmm

Marydoll Sun 07-Jan-24 08:03:50

I doubt they are reading.

I twice reported something last week, got no response. I then emailed GHNQ, they hadn't the courtesy to respond. Downright rude.

Iam64 Sun 07-Jan-24 08:48:43

Marydoll, I agree, it seems unlikely anyone from gnet is reading this. In the past, any report has been responded to, reasons given for the action taken but in recent weeks - nothing.
