Gransnet in 2024 - have your say!

Hello, everyone.

As we approach the end of the year, we at GNHQ are thinking about what we can do to improve the site for everyone in 2024. Simply put - we think we need a makeover!

What we’d really like to know is does Gransnet hit the spot, or is there something you're itching for. What features do you love, (or not) and is there a gap we need to fill? We’d also like to know if you think Gransnet reflects who you are and if not, how can we make it more ‘you’?

If you were in charge at GNHQ for the day, what changes would you make? Anything from the layout or the topics to even the name Gransnet (AI suggested ‘nananook.com' grin) - we want to hear it.

Your opinions matter to us and we’re all ears.

Thanks,
GNHQ

Change the blooming swimming pool photo, I’ve not read through all the thread just to see if someone else has said it so my apologies if they have.

Well no harm in saying it again bikergran!
I am fed up with seeing it too angry

Yes, I said it but no need to apologise for saying it again bikergran!

It's 3⁰ here, 'feels like 0⁰' and that picture makes me feel chilly. Nothing seasonal about it, there were no Christmassy photos, nothing.

It just proves that no-one in GNHQ takes any notice of us and just pay us lip service by starting threads like this very occasionally.

Well that went well didn’t it ?
Went the same way as the rest of their silly ‘what do you want, really, really want’ ( I’m singing that)
Zilch, zero, nothing
Stand down ladies and gents, as you were

There is an advert for Curry's showing on GN today which does surprise me as I don't think I would be spending my advertising budget on a website that blatantly ignores it's customer/client/social media group. What are we exactly?

Callistemon21 Sun 07-Jan-24 10:30:05

All I get is adverts for Mumsnet.

Are GNHQ trying to tell us something?

Millie22 Mon 08-Jan-24 11:34:17

There are 20 'Games' on the active thread this morning.

Just saying ... if anyone is listening.

Just saying ... if anyone is listening

As the saying goes "Your lips are moving but all I hear is blah, blah, blah" 🙂

DanniRae

I’m wondering if there is an alternative to Gransnet, covering a large range of subjects. ‘Having our say’ doesn’t appear to make a blind bit of difference! Any comment AnnieGransnet?

Ziplok Tue 09-Jan-24 09:25:17

I have to wonder why we bother - it’s been over a month now since we were asked for suggestions/thoughts and have had no further comment since early Dec (5th?). Why ask f you’re not going to engage with us, update us and let us know your intentions (be they to stay as you are or adopt some of the suggestions). 5 weeks is time enough to at least get back to us, I would have thought?

It’s a waste of everyone’s time, isn’t it? And the same happens every year.

The thread’s made me nostalgic for the Gransnet of old. The one with regular competitions, books to apply for every month, jolly GNHQ input and some very witty (and now late lamented) members. I was so pleased to have found it back in 2012, but I can’t see much here now to tempt new people to join, or to stay.

Perhaps it’s a sign of the times - like everywhere, no money, staff shortages - or perhaps it’s just me. smile

No, it's not just you Maggiemaybe

Come back Cari, Geraldine, Josi .......

We have 🎂 and ☕ and even 🍷

Maggiemaybe Tue 09-Jan-24 13:38:14

Now if that doesn’t lure them back, nothing will!

Ziplok Tue 09-Jan-24 14:20:49

You’re right Maggiemaybe, the GN of old (and really, not going that far back, but certainly pre covid and possibly pre Brexit), seemed much friendlier, with more general chit chat input fro GNHQ staff, along with competitions, books to apply for & review if you got one - then the follow up chat with the author.
I posted under a different moniker back then, but can assure you I was there.
I know things evolve and change, that’s normal, but not everything is necessarily better.

We could all report this thread! wink

I remember the young man at GNHQ, who used to post with tech updates. He always was always so pleasant and put up with the banter. I can't for the life of me recall his name.

There was also the time when my eye brow tinting went wrong and I started a thread about it. GNHQ joined in with the fun.
Changed days indeed!

Let’s get the problems fixed before we talk about changes, I can’t post.

Heliotrope Wed 10-Jan-24 15:13:26

Posts disappearing again, I just said fix the current problems before talking about updating

How long before last post disappears.

toscalily Sun 21-Jan-24 11:06:03

Anyone there?

libra10 Sun 21-Jan-24 11:13:29

I'm here! With a suggestion, or 3!

It would be great if you could thank certain posts, and edit when you have made a mistake. Also, be given the choice whether you want to watch a thread after posting.

Callistemon21 Sun 21-Jan-24 11:15:33

You can watch threads, libra10
At the top of the thread is a yellow box saying Watch this thread, just click on it.
