Well, I have reported 16 of these.

Also I always post โ€˜reportedโ€™ so others donโ€™t waste their time doing the same.

It actually is quite satisfying pressing the โ€˜reportโ€™ button on these ridiculous posts.

Yes, sorry, that's what I meant, merlotgran has beaten me to it ๐Ÿ™‚

Snap Merlotgran.

Patsy, on my iPad, I scroll down to the bottom of the page, where it says View Mobile Site, when there, at the top right is a downward pointing red/ purple arrow/ chevron. Click that, then where you see Hide this Post, click on that. Then go back down to the bottom of the page and click on Desk Top. Hope this makes sense and works for you.

You can hide a thread on the mobile site by clicking on the arrow at the top right hand corner and select, โ€˜hide this threadโ€™.

Iโ€™ve just read FAQs and, apparently, we canโ€™t delete threads, only GNHQ can.

Patsy70 Sat 14-Sept-24 17:39:53

Sorry to appear thick, but how do I delete a thread?

I don't understand why these "companies" post on somewhere like Gransnet - do they really think we are all going to buy whatever it is they are selling - and why post the same thing over and over again!!

It is done automatically by a (ro)bot that sends the same spam ad post to all of a bought list of social media sites. If a site specifies that only members can post, they join the site using an automatically generated password. The people hoping to sell "chemicals to clean money" or whatever don't care where the ads are shown.

I have no intentions of dealing with a S pam problem.
GN site not mine or anyone elses'.

Visgir1 Sat 14-Sept-24 16:18:29

I tried to do too, but they poured in today. Gave up on the end, these " Bots" have no idea what they are posting on.

Marydoll - 13 minutes without.

Me too. Maybe it would help after all if we put a "reported" when we've done it so GNHQ doesn't get swamped and have to suspend business as usual.

I am of the opposite opinion - adding a post to the thread pushes it up the time-line, instead of letting it gradually sink down below other threads getting posts.

Also, GNHQ is more likely to take action if they are being inconvenienced by the flood of spam. (Sorry, GNHQ grin flowers ).

Marydoll Sat 14-Sept-24 14:33:00

If you have also reported Elegran, that means I have wasted an hour of my life reporting, because I thought no-one else had bothered.

I always state I have reported, rather than have dozens of people clogging up GN mailboxes with reports of SPAM.

Wyllow3 Sat 14-Sept-24 14:31:20

Ah, noticed some people have put "reported". way to go.

so have I. I haven't wasted valuable time posting that I have reported them - but I am up to date so far. I've a cup of coffee beside me, just clicking as they appear.

V3ra Sat 14-Sept-24 14:18:43

I've been deleting the threads but they keep reappearing. Most annoying ๐Ÿ˜

I see weโ€™ve been invaded this afternoon.๐Ÿ‘พ๐Ÿ‘พ๐Ÿ‘พ๐Ÿ‘พ
Good luck with getting rid of them GNHQ! ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€
